I need help with my teeth. Advice, at least.

I have a capped tooth in front. It is especially sensitive and my dentist had been considering a root canal, because last time he worked on it they pumped me full with four syringes of anaesthesia to no effect.

Anyways, starting around mid-December, my bottom teeth along that side became more and more sensitive. They got to the point where breathing in cold air has me down and clutching my mouth for five minutes.

I've switched to Sensodyne toothpaste to no avail. We don't have dental right now, so we'd prefer more info before we go to a dentist. Please help.

Two words. Sedation dentistry. I had a dentist give me 6 shots of novacaine and still felt the root canal. I recently had some major dental work done and didn't feel a thing because I was sedated. They give you a pill to take an hour before the appointment and another one when you get there. You're not completely out like you would be under general anesthesia, but you don't remember anything. I don't even remember coming home from the dentist's office. Go to google and search for the term sedation dentistry for more information.

I figured as much, but he also mentioned that he had 4 shots of anesthetic and it didn't work. Having a root canal when you can feel it is torture.

Oh, he said if I were to have a root canal they'd probably put me under.
