What are you seeing Annie?

I'm going to see my friend in 'The Importance of Being Earnest'.

It's Sci-Friday. Stargate, Stargate Atlantis and Battle Star Galactica. And, or course, I have to tape Monk. Normally, I'd watch Monk, but I'm taping it for my parents. They enjoy watching someone who isn't me act like that. [Smile]

Grocery shopping, and picking up some cloth diapers from a freecycler.

Waiting for my husband to come home. [Frown] 4 hours, 13 minutes to go...

Oh, and looking at fabric ideas to tell Katie about when we go fabric shopping tomorrow. After I'm finished with that, I may have to change my designs a little more if I get another idea. [Smile] Thanks for giving me a fun project, Katie, since I'm almost finished with the wearable blankets I've been making my friend's baby!

Posted by Kayla (Member # 2403) on :

And I'm taping Numb3rs and Medical Investigations. I need to borrow one of my husband's VCRs though. And my son is trying to cajole one of his friends into spending the night and watching Napoleon Dynamite.

Posted by Ryuko (Member # 5125) on :

Mmm... Monk. Wait, it's on at like 9:30 right?

That's cutting it close... I have to get up at 5:30 for work tomorrow morning. :/

Posted by Kayla (Member # 2403) on :

Monk is on at 10/9 central.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

So Monk and BSG conflict eh? Too bad for BSG, I think. I'm in more of a Monk mood tonight.

Cocktails and sparkling conversation at Azia. Ginger-lemon martinis, here I come!

Can't stay out too late, though, because tomorrow I am meeting a friend to watch as many episodes of the first season of Farscape as we can get in in a sitting, with a break for lunch. I got the DVDs for Christmas. [Big Grin]

Posted by Kayla (Member # 2403) on :

Don't worry, Monk is on again at 12/11 central. Though they have invented these nifty things callef VCRs that allow you to tape one thing and watch another.

Trying to relax. so I am watching this movie and drooling over Kirsten Dundst.
*sigh* Kirsten Dundst
*watching Crazy/Beautiful
Plus, I will soon do my state taxes after making a stupid mistake with my federal.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

VCWhats? Huh?

My VCR doesn't seem to like my satellite, for some reason. I haven't been able to get it to tape from it. Not that I've put much effort into it though.

I'll just watch it at 12.

I just finished counting the holes in the ceiling tiles, and now I am randomly flinging boogers at the wall all the while searching the convicted sex offenders pics at my state's website...

Fun indeed. Pass the spray cheese.

Oh, and I am supposed to be working, but I refuse to.

No kids this weekend.

Peace, quiet, a big pot of soup, some fabulous cookies from the kosher French bakery, and several good books.

Bliss. [Smile]

Well, I've turned into the family video jockey since I control the Netfix account, and I'm trying to pick foreign films my mom and I can both enjoy. She thought Kitchen Stories was really weird (but I loved it), so this time we're trying The Color of Paradise.

Oh, and enjoy one of my favorite plays ever!

All of you who are staying home to watch TV, you better be going out tomorrow night. Slackers.

Except Kayla. You get a free pass.

The rest of you, get out of the house!

[Razz] No, no... I get my netfix elsewhere.

And ElJay darling, can you make your ultimatum only apply to people who live in places where going out is an option?

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Pfft. I bite my thumb at ElJay's ultimatum.

I plan to enjoy solitude and quiet at home tonight, and will most likely enjoy quiet and solitude at home tomorrow.

Pixiest--How was it that I had you in my mind as a teenager? That's...really odd. I think I must be combining several people with similar usernames into a single being.

So--who dates Black Fox, or maybe used to? Who hates Tom Davidson with the firey intensity of 1000 suns? Who is very, very right wing? I had thought that all three of those applied to you, but I'm guessing I'm wrong.

Okay, so I turned the TV on. I watched "Good Eats". He asserted that grits and polenta were exactly the same thing. Then he proceeded to prove it by making them both at the same time--by putting different ingredients into the two pans and cooking them with different methods. Sure convinced me. [Roll Eyes]

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

Ah, okay, thanks Kayla.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

You know, BSG wasn't too bad. Not Firefly, but then what is. I'll definitely be watching it next week, and will be keeping my eye out for reruns of the episodes I've missed.

Now back to cleaning. Once I get done with that I have to shovel my tenants' walk, and then I'm going to get Quicken set up, or at least get started on it. I'll take a break at Midnight to watch Monk.

But tomorrow, I'll be in Vegas! [Big Grin]

Aw, crap. I wanted to watch NUMB3RS. [Frown]

Any chance you can lend it to me after you're done with it? [Kiss]

Sure.

But I'd need your address to do that.

So, now your choice is no NUMB3RS or giving the crazy chick your address.

What to do, what to do.

[Wink]

You just remembered they do re-runs, didn't you!

I just got back from hanging out with friends. We meet in the lounge of a dorm every Friday to talk maybe play cards or a board game. Tomorrow I am meeting these same people for dinner. I will probably stay out doing something until late. One of my friends from that group is also Episcopalian, so we are going to church, the forum, and then food on Sunday. I think that is an adequate amount of socializing for a weekend. It is basically the same thing I do every weekend.

(I know I extended Friday to my whole weekend)

Fine. People with 10 month old babies are also exempt. Annie, I bet you could find something to do if you tried, but I'll give you a pass, too. Rivka: [Taunt] Go ahead, do nothing. See if I care.

Not like I expected anyone to listen to me, anyway. [Big Grin]

Whew. I just got home. That was a fun night.

I performed for 100 people in the name of charety, had some red wine from back home (Okanogan Valley), smoked some reefer, ate some pizza, and went to a small party at a friends house.

And.... you all watched movies??! [The Wave]

Edit: And I LOVE movies.

Friday night?

I was watching Joan of Arcadia and Monk.

The TV fare on Friday seems to be targeted right at me. Agnostic and neurologically weird (medical documentation to prove it). [Razz]

Okay, Icky. It's a good news, bad news situation.

The good news is that about a month ago, my husband thought he broke his finger, it hasn't gotten any better and he made a doctor's appointment for today, so I went with him and he took me to the store to shop and I mailed the tape.

The bad news is that his appointment was for 1:30 and he didn't see the doctor till 4:00 and we didn't get to the store till 4:30. They pick up the mail at 3:35. [Frown]

Anyway, it'll be on it's way Monday, so look for it around Wednesday or Thursday.

Posted by Kayla (Member # 2403) on :

Oh, and it's cued up for Numb3rs. If you wanna watch Joan of Arcadia, you have to rewind 2 hours.

Since others have extended into the weekend...I will too.

Last night Wes was at the fire station and we had an ice/sleet event. It was cool, I built a big fire and watched Sci-Fi Friday on the Sci-Fi channel and read a book. Re-reading The Uplift War by David Brin because I'm out of new things to read and it was the first book on my bookshelf that made me say "Hey! I haven't read that in a while!"

This morning I was at class at 8:00 am which was an adventure, because there were a lot of trees down on the roads and such from the ice.

Music appreciation class, and it was fun. We listened to some Gregorian chants and a piece written by a female troubadour back in the 1100's that was the earliest example I've ever heard of a "you done me wrong song" She was whining about how her lover doesn't treat her with any respect and is nice to everyone else except her.

We also reviewed for a test next week, and I got every question on the review test right, which was encouraging.

Tonight, I cooked spaghetti, and now I'm in the typical after-supper mode - checking hatrack and my online classes. Then I'll head upstairs to spend some time with Wes.

Tomorrow - church in the morning, furniture making in the afternoon, I have an ottoman that I'm rebuilding.

I am not doing nothing, ElJay.

I am recharging my batteries (and I mean that in a metaphorical sense, before someone gets cute). You are an extrovert, and recharge by going out and doing stuff. I am not.

You don't see me telling you to stay home with a good book and a cup of cocoa, do you?

I went to work both last night and tonight.

But I'll make sure I do something fun tomorrow night.

At least there's Hatrack!

Hmmm. Studied last night.

Got up this morning and made popovers. David was happy. Went to cafe and studied all day.

Came home, fixed Cuban sandwiches from yesterday's slow-roasted pork. Also spicy red pepper and mushroom soup from the pan drippings. Husband was delirious with happiness and offered to marry me again.

Was required to sleep for four hours. [Big Grin]

[Big Grin] I actually do recharge with a good book and a cup of cocoa. I just didn't need recharging this weekend, I got plenty of relaxation last week in Hawaii. Going out is usually a leeetle bit stressful for me, but if I can get past it I have fun, so I try to make myself do it. But when I revert to my natural state, I hermit.

And today I watched 8 episodes of Farscape, had lunch at a fabulous Thai place, and walked around a lake. And had ghirdelli hot chocolate. [Razz]

Edit: Ooooooh, those sandwiches sound delicious.

Thank you. Of course, that only covered 2 disks, and I still have 4 to go. [Smile] But I probably won't do the rest straight through like that.

When I was in residency, I dealt with one particular time of stress (first year, 36-hr call shifts in the peds ICU every other night over Christmas break) by watching 12 hours of X-files tapes once it was over.

Man, my dreams had a creepy soundtrack for weeks. But it worked to snap me out of the blues.

That was the time when I fell asleep standing up. I'd clocked in 98 hours in 5 days, and the attending was "pimping" me (i.e., asking training questions) about a chest X-ray at two in the morning. Took a deep breath, started the spiel -- "Well, the bony structures are intact. Full inspiration as shown by inflation to 8 ribs, ..." -- and promptly nodded off. He shook me awake and sent me back to bed.

[Frown]

Egads. That was when I was going into cardiac failure. Less than a month and a half later, I had cardiac surgery. *wince

That's me, to a T!

And I seriously contemplated going out tonight (mostly because of this thread) but decided I was too tired.

In fact, I'm going offline shortly. No Farscape for me. I'm on disk 4 of season 1 of Stargate. [Big Grin]
