From what my aunt says, she fell in her apt on Sunday. She has one of those call-button necklaces but she was naked when she fell so she didn't use it. She waited till my aunt came to visit on Tues ( yes, naked, unfed, and by then in a pool of waste ) She is in hospital now, has compression fratcures of several vertebrae. Aunt and the doc have told her she needs to go to assisited living but she doesn't want to. Any prayers are appreciated.

Something similar happened to my grandmother while she was living alone and we were able to convince her to move to a place where they took care of her while she maintained her independence. Basically if she wasn't showing up to meals they would know something was wrong.

No update, really. She is recovering, still insisting on her independence. The doc is going to tell her she has to be released to a nursing home "until we think you are recovered enough". She is so stubborn!

Update- She went to a nursing home for recovery and rehab. Docs wanted her in for a month, maybe more, but after a week and a half, Medicare says she is gone Tuesday. My aunt is looking for help from the Agency on Aging.
