Ok, time to get back to the ever popular new and bumpable daily lunch special. What ever office person looks forward to starting around 9:00 or so and what helps cause many afternoon sleepy yawns. So let’s get it done and figure out what we’ll be doing for lunch. By figuring out what we’ll be eating we can be more productive! Excellent! So… me… after a weekend in Tampa to run their half marathon with my cousin, I’m pretty hungry. And of course I haven’t had my Shop and Save deli fix for about 5 days now. So I’m hoping for a couple of BLT’s and maybe a donut.

Well, it was sort of more of just a friendly card. When I had asked her out a few weeks back she said she was dating someone at the time. But that she would keep me in mind if anything happened. Interesting. So… I figured a nice card just to make her smile would be ok. Nothing overboard like a bunch of flowers or anything. Just a simple card to compliment her beautiful smile and thank her for her kindness. Cool? So while I was waiting to order she was on the other side helping other customers. She had to come over to near where I was standing to get something, said hi and wished me a Happy Valentines Day. I told her Dittos and gave her the card. She was all for me and said thank you. So I guess that went well. Until Bubba gets wind that I gave his girl a card and runs me down with his truck one night while I’m out running…..

It's easier to keep down the glycemic index than I thought, and given that our local employee-owned Woodman's is inexpensive (Kavli @ $1.69/box, Yellowtail @ $5.99/bottle), it is easy on the budget, too.
I've also been into the cooking lately. Roasting fresh peppers, making pie and lemon bars, etc. Minimal processed sugar, lots of fresh ingredients.

Aw, thanks!
The last time I went to the doctor, they actually did test me to see if I was pre-diabetic, since I am obese and there's a strong family history of it. My sugar was ok, but that's when I decided it was time to start losing weight. It's going slowly, but it's going.
Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :
There is also some evidence that just being on the catabolic (weight-losing, no matter what the rate) rather than anabolic (weight-gaining) side lessens many risks [unless you are already too thin. Too low a BMI means increased risks for all sorts of things, and so it is unhealthy, too].
Yay for both of us!

Yes; that's actually one of my two main reasons for losing weight. My father, who has been overweight most of his adult life, has had diabetes since about 30. I am, sadly, approaching 30, and have been overweight most of my adult life. So, I'm in the process of (literally) working my butt off.
Which means I eat a lot of salads and turkey sandwiches for lunch. Well, I also do that cause I'm in school and have zero time for food preparation.

Where did all this dang snow come from? It was nice last night went I went to bed. Raining a little. But then got up and don’t think I realized how much it really snowed until I was already heading out to work. Should have worked from home with all the nastiness out. So the cold and great weather have me pretty hungry. I’m thinking Chinese Lucky #`1 today. The sesame chicken Lunch Special with Pork fried rice and egg roll. Great….. now I’m making myself even more hungry.
Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :
Well, I made a pot roast in the crock pot the other night, and sort of forgot about it. It cooked all night. Hence, it came out like pulled pork. So, I tore it apart, dumped in a bottle of Dinosaur barbecue Sauce, and voila! Barbecued beef sandwiches for lunch.
Because I am on the Weight Watchers Core plan, and the beef was a loin roast, it is "free." I will use hamburger bun's and cheese for Steve's sandwiches, and Alvarado St sprouted wheat and flax bread(3 g of fiber, Megs!)for mine. Or maybe one slice of brad with some beef on top.
(I would move to Ithaca, New York for the music, and to Syracuse, New York for the Dinosaur)

I don't know what to have for lunch. I'm actually here for suggestions.
Elizabeth, that sandwich sounds maaaah-velous. I think I need to make a potroast. Maybe for dinner tomorrow.

Megan, barbecue sauce is "free." I think. At least I decided it was today. I will check later.
Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :
Cool. I took your advice on declaring a few things free: apples are officially zero points for me.
In other news, I had an artichoke and mushroom sandwich for lunch today. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :
I had a giant bowl of steamed brocolli tossed with crumbled bacon and gorgonzola cheese and roasted red pepper salsa.
For dessert I'm eating a sliced Pink Lady apple with cracked black pepper. Pink Ladies are my favorite winter/spring apple.
Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :
Dana, my kids just discovered Pink Ladies, and they have been disappearing as fast as I buy them.
Megan, when I did WW successfully, I declared half and half and salad dressing free. There was a year when all fruit was free, so just go retro and declare all fruit free.
Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :
Hmmm...maybe all fresh fruit but strawberries. If I declare them free, I might eat them by the metric ton.
Thanks for the advice! Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :
Now if I can just find something glorious for the time between Honey Crisp and Pink Lady availibility. . .
Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :
No winter apple except for Granny Smiths are safe for me. Sad. I can eat fresh apples in the fall(the more sour ones), and Grannies in winter. That is it.
Megan, my sister in law taught me the salad dressing trick. I don't like salad much, and with fat free dressing? Forget it. So, in order me to fill up on healthy greens, I need my Ken's Italian. And stawberries would be fine, I bet, even if you eat a bunch. the way i figure it, think of what else you might be eating, like potato chips.

A quick ceasar salad in between demands. Romaine lettuce, which I wash, dry off, and pre-shred and keep in a bag in the fridge, Brianna's Asiago Ceasar, a dash of salt, a sprinkling of T. Marzetti's large-cut cheese and garlic croutons, and a good couple of Tbsp. of pre-shredded Parmesan, Romano, and Asiago. Not the best ever, but not the worst, and it took me 45 seconds to make, and will give me enough fat, protein, and carbs to keep me going.

It's very yummy soup but it feels like I've just eaten 13 pounds of rice. 10 minutes later, I'm hungry again!

Have to go turn in my offer letter so I might stop and get Mexican while I’m on that side of town. Cool.

Took my mom out for fancy-pants food and wine as a very, very belated Mothers' Day gift. 'Twas quite nice even so.

I made quite interesting pasta for lunch today
Good italian durum wheat dry pasta that I tossed with tinned artichokes that I had de-tinned and marinated for a few days with italian parsley, olive oil, green chilli, white balsamic and garlic.
I just fried the artichokes a little in their marinade and added to the pasta. Yummy. Posted by Jay (Member # 5786) on :

I love free lunches too.
I had spinach salad with chicken, TJ's organic craisin/almond/cashew mix, and sesame soy ginger dressing. Yummmmmmy.

Hot Pockets. Fun. It's to hot here today anyway.... At least to hot to be stuck inside in work clothes....

It's lunchtime. I'm starved.
I'm broke -- and payday isn't until tomorrow.
Lunch today will be the one leftover HotPocket I have in the refrig.

Lunchtime isn't for at least another hour, and I'm alredy hungry. I've already had a couple of granola bars, and I don't want a third. Maybe I'll go raid the overpriced-but-conveniently-close-to-my-desk vending machine.

*Bump*ing thread, because today for lunch I had steak and lobster. Made it myself, and it was pretty good. So there.

I'm debating at this moment whether I'm going to have lunch when I get back from class in a few hours or if I'm just going to go straight to sleep. At the moment, I think I'm favoring sleep. *yawn*

Megan's picking me up to go for sushi in just a little over two hours

Now that class is over (and I'm more or less fully awake), I've decided against sleep. Instead I ordered Domino's Pizza. Posted by Brinestone (Member # 5755) on :

We went to Sweet Chilli's for lunch. It's a great restaurant - we've eaten their food about a half dozen times, and it never disappoints. They've got Indian, Sri Lankan, Chinese, and Thai, and man, they are goooooood.
The only quibble I have is that they don't have the proper spring roll sauce for the spring rolls. Instead, they bring out plain American catsup. Sacrilege, I tell you!

Ham with mayo on white bread. No lettuce, although we had it, because I haven't washed it yet and Jeff was making the sandwich for me. (He had PB&J.) I also had some applesauce (so did Emma) and now Jeff and I are having root beer floats as a treat. Posted by pfresh85 (Member # 8085) on :
Apparently I'm not having Domino's. There stupid order thing must not be working again as it's been over an hour and no delivery or call or anything. I just called them and cancelled it, because I was frustrated with them (this isn't the first time this has happened). Now I debate whether I order pizza from somewhere else, or if I order out a different kind of food, or if I scrounge around the apartment for whatever may remain.
