I don't want to use AIM at work (actually, I don't think I want to use AIM anywhere) but parachat I can close easily when it gets too distracting.

But no one seems to be on anymore...

Parachat doesn't seem to load for me.

You can download AIM, or Gaim or Trillian - all are compatible with AIM.
