could someone please provide me with more info on landmark posts, and introduction posts? Even just point me to where such information is.

I never HAVE to do one, right?

What I always wondered was why people bother making new screen names just to avoid writing a landmark. It's not a rule that you have to write one. If you don't want to do one, just don't. Not that big a thing.

People often write landmarks when they hit a nice round number of posts, or some significant life event, or just when they have something to say. You can read the posts in the landmark archive to get a sense of the kinds of things people write. But don't be afraid to do something different, if you want. It's all pretty informal.

I think some people stress out about it more than others. I don't really see why. I think some people put pressure on themselves to write something fantastic or profound to compete when previously written fantastic and profound landmarks.

I have no intention of doing one. That may change by the time I hit a thousand posts. Or I may decide that the number one thousand isn't to my liking, and save it for post number, say, 1206, to mirror the year Temujin was given the title Genghis Khan. Who knows? And who cares? One numerical "milestone" is as good as another. Which is to say, they're all equally arbitrary.

Apparently an Alien will burst out of your ribcage if you don't write a landmark at a certain number, Verily.

I have done 7 landmarks, but I have no shortage of weird stories. People use landmark avoidance because they want to landmark but they are procrastinators. I've done that quite a bit. Landmarks that I remember as wondering "how will I ever match up?" were suneun and xnera. And I just have to realize, I can't. Landmarks aren't a beauty contest. The most prolific posters don't do them, or don't do them every thousand.

I wonder what number that is? [Razz]

I've done 3. At most, one has been on exactly a thousand mark.

Obviously, I've skipped more than I've done.

I've done...none (and not likely to).
