About two weeks ago, I got an email inviting me to interview for a short-term, very well-paying job. I'm out of funding, so I thought, "Hey, perfect! Even if it's only for three months, it pays well enough that I can save that money for the summer, when all I'll have is the part-time job." So, I interviewed, and I thought it went fairly well. I was even under the (mistaken) impression that I actually had the job.

I got an email last week informing me (regretfully) that he'd decided to hire someone else (along with, incidentally, the email he sent to the other person offering her the job...whoops!).

I was disappointed, and the situation was not helped by the fact that the summer teaching list for my department came out last week, and I wasn't on it. So, last week kind of stunk (which is why I didn't post much at hatrack last week except in the game threads).

Last night, I came home to a call on my answering machine from the gentleman who interviewed me. Apparently, the girl who he hired instead of me has visa problems and can't work until the summer. Not only that, but apparently he was concerned that her musical knowledge might not be up to what he needed.

Long story short (too late), I will very likely be working the job alone until the summer, and then with her after that.

So, here's a tentative whoo-hoo. [Big Grin]

woo-hoo?!?

It's hard to do tentative in writing.

Yes, yes, it is. That's why I supplied the word. [Big Grin]

Heh, and I just realized I spelled woo-hoo with an extra h. [Wink] Ah, well.

Whoo-hoo!

(?)

Is that tentative?

Woo-hoo!

While I am not surprised at all, I am very happy for you, and I'm sure you'll be wonderful at it!

Thanks! [Smile]

I may start as early as next week, though I have very little idea of what actual activities the job will entail. I know it's a feasibility study involving software in the music library, and that it will call on both my computer and musical skills, but that's about it.

And the pay is very good. [Smile]

There was abit too much iron in that irony.

Way to go!

woo-hoo! [/tentative]

Now that is really tough - because I don't know which graemlin to use. Obviously the wave or the partying grapes isn't appropriate, they're not at all tentative.

This guy [Dont Know] is too wishy-washy.

This one [Big Grin] is too happy.

Hmm...how about a cool smiley? [Cool]

Oh, and best of luck - I hope it works out.

WOO hoo? [Hat] [Dont Know] [Smile]

Sounds like a good job, I hope it works out well, Megan! [Big Grin]
