This seriously pisses me off to no end, not about the guy ransoming Toby, but the fact that he is actually getting money.

It's fake, and it's been mentioned here numerous times.

I'm just bewildered that people have that strong of a reaction to the death of a rabbit. People butcher and eat rabbits every day -- you can buy them in your local grocery store, if it's a good one. It's not like he said he was going to torture the poor bunny beforehand.

Hmm. Do you think people would have the same reaction to a goldfish? I'm sure I could think of things to do with twenty-five grand. . .on the other hand, I can't imagine Squiggles would taste very good.

. . .and yes, I'm aware it's a joke, as per snopes.

Is that even legal? It seems kinda odd

i actually think the whole thing is laughable. The guy's a genius. He's made $25,000 just by saying he gonna eat a rabit. My grandfather use to raise rabits. As a kid, we used to play with the babies and help feed and water all the cages. Just as often we sat down and had a nice dinner of rabit. People are stupid. What do they think giving money to this guy will accomplish?

Not real? Good. First time I've actually cared enough to look at his site.

It's probably because I HAVE a rabbit, which is why the thought of eating one fills me with dismay.

If I did it with my cat do you think I could make that much money? Here kitty kitty.

Posted by Portabello (Member # 7710) on :

Dude -- I'd pay money to eat a rabbit or a kittie.

Posted by MEC (Member # 2968) on :

...

I would pay him money to eat the rabbit.

Well, Synesthesia doesn't have a cat, whiskeysunrise, so you'll probably just hafta eat whatcha hunt.

Hmmm....Hasenfeffer.

(Classic Bugs Bunny Episode).

This by the same guys who created the ad for National Lampoon in the 70's...the one with the cute dog with a gun to its head that read "Buy this magazine...or we will shoot this dog."

Feh, its been done before and better.

Posted by aspectre (Member # 2222) on :

And it worked: that was the bestselling issue of NationalLampoon ever.

UHF quote: "If no one comes down to buy any cars, I'm ganna club this baby seal. That's right! I'm ganna club him! because I'm craaaaazzy!"

"I'm gonna club this baby seal to make a better deal!"

Yeah, I thought I got the quote a bit wrong.

must admit, Toby is a neat little bunny, but have to wonder how all this exposure is affecting him?

having his picture all over the internet at such a young age.

Posted by Ryuko (Member # 5125) on :

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have nearly that much money.

Posted by Grisha (Member # 6871) on :

i hope not

It would be ironic if he does not, in fact, have that much money from this endeavor, but was tapped by the IRS for an audit because, after all, he claims to have made that much money. [Evil]

Did anybody actually click on the donate button?

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

While the site is a scarcastic joke, he does in fact have that much in the account.

People are stupid.

Snope people. please use Snopes:

http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/savetoby.asp

Not only is it a hoax (which was probably copied from other people), the money counter is also likely a hoax, since it has to be edited by hand.

I did, wondering if people even could donate, and the answer is no, they can't. So unless he is getting payed a lot for the adds on the site, or everyone is buying T-shirts from them and i have just never seen them, he doesn't have that much money from it.

Posted by sarcasticmuppet (Member # 5035) on :

"donations" come through t-shirt sales.
