You can click and drag her around. Try pulling her between two spheres that are touching each other.

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

That's so WEIRD.

Posted by Troubadour (Member # 83) on :

kinda freaky

Posted by sarcasticmuppet (Member # 5035) on :

You can just let go and let her fall too--definetely freaky.

Posted by KarlEd (Member # 571) on :

Ok, that is disturbingly fascinating.

Posted by ctm (Member # 6525) on :

It's kind of...creepy. For some reason it is bothering me that it's a woman.

Posted by Dragon (Member # 3670) on :

does she ever hit the ground or anything? she just falls forever?

I agree, very creepy.

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

That's horrible. Just horrible.

Posted by Yozhik (Member # 89) on :

She's stuck hanging by her feet.

Posted by The Pixiest (Member # 1863) on :

I'm going to have nightmares about swinging that woman's corpse about....

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

Corpses are stiff...

Posted by Farmgirl (Member # 5567) on :

How come it won't let me drag her back UP the screen? the screen doesn't move back up as you move the mouse up.

Posted by Narnia (Member # 1071) on :

I find myself trying to get her to rest on something. Right now she's reclining comfortably on several spheres together. [Smile]

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

It would be less creepy if she had some friggin' clothes on.

Posted by Narnia (Member # 1071) on :

yeah, you're right about that.

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

Hey Narnia. I was going to ask if anyone else tried to get her to rest in a comfy position. That was my instinct.

Strange stuff.

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

Eh, my instinct was to throw her really high in the sky and watch her slam into the spheres and spin around. I think we've discovered why you're so frustratingly nice to everyone and why I'm such a heartless bastard, Xav.

I would prefer they put more cloths on it also.

Glynn, that made me chuckle [Big Grin] .

Posted by Chris Kidd (Member # 2646) on :

does it look like she only has one leg. thats weird.

Posted by Farmgirl (Member # 5567) on :

I also worked at it until I could find a place she could rest in what appeared to be a comfortable position, and stay. Then I closed the window.

Maybe this is a psychology experiment.

i think she broke her neck a couple of times.

Posted by Tammy (Member # 4119) on :

Oh my! I played with her a little longer than necessary. I couldn't get over her flexibility. I wish she was a he with a space suit on. I'd feel better about throwing her around.

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

Hey, I found a plenty comfortable spot for her.

Posted by whiskysunrise (Member # 6819) on :

She really needs more clothes.

Posted by Teshi (Member # 5024) on :

Okay, I'm going to say it- everyone else seems to be hinting. It reminds me of a woman who's been raped and killed.

It's horrible.

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

Weird.
She's in her underwears.
I have her laying comfortably on some spheres.

Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :

I felt bad for her falling and banging into stuff. I found a nice bubbly place for her to rest, partially reclining.

This would be more fun to watch if it were something like Teletubbies falling though the sky and not the poor dead nekkid lady.

Posted by 0range7Penguin (Member # 7337) on :

Thatwas one of the oddest things I've seen. Not the oddest that would be a definate stretch but its up their.

who makes up stuff like this?

Posted by Zeugma (Member # 6636) on :

I found it fascinating, and spent some time thinking about how the overlap in her arms and legs helped convey her weight.

::nods::

rigor mortis has a relatively narrow window really.

Posted by Boris (Member # 6935) on :

Think it's weird just normally? Try it while listening to Josh Groban. Or Poveratti if you prefer. It's kinda...psycho.

Posted by Avadaru (Member # 3026) on :

I dunno why everyone thinks it's so disturbing. I think it's cool as hell. I can't stop watching, it's so fascinating....

If you pull her arms fast enough, they come loose from the rest of the body. Somebody isn't applying a hard enough constraint, there.

Posted by Boris (Member # 6935) on :

If you swing her around fast enough, every joint on her body seperates. It's like Stretch Armstrong, only cooler [Smile]

Posted by Dragon (Member # 3670) on :

king of men... I do not want to know why you were trying to pull her arms off.

I tried to get her to do contortion, but discovered that she will only bend backwards on her own, and that its nearly impossible to get her to do it on purpose.

I take it that you have never had women friends who have been raped or abused. I'm not sure why, but to many of us this animation is a haunting reminder of the abuse of woman. It's not that I don't find it amusing. Quite the opposite. I'm disturbed that I am amused and fascinated by pulling and throwing this realistic looking woman around and watching her neck and back break as she falls.

Posted by TL (Member # 8124) on :

It's all very well and good to be horrified by this. However, please don't pass judgement on those of us who are not.

Not being upset by a meaningless flash animation does not mean that we are not upset by rape or abuse. To make that connection is silly.

I think it's a fascinating display of the idea of ragdoll physics and the effect of gravity upon them. Nothing more, nothing less.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

As others have said, I wouldn't find it half so unnerving if the boneless dead thing you toss around wasn't a mostly unclothed woman.

Posted by Zeugma (Member # 6636) on :

Oh give me a freaking break.

Posted by KarlEd (Member # 571) on :

Personally I viewed it as a study in ragdoll physics. My main qualm is that I wish it were a male figure, probably for the exact same reasons the animator chose a female figure (which most likely had nothing to do with misogyny).

Though I have to admit I cringe when she takes a particularly painful looking bump. Reminds me of a video I saw of an unconcious skier plummeting down a very steep mountainside. Ironically, the doctors said the reason the skier survived was probable due to his being unconcious and bouncing around like a ragdoll.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Consider yourself as having received a break. [Wink]

I'm not saying everyone should feel this way, or that anyone should feel bad for being amused by it. I'm just saying that I personally find it disturbing, and heck, I didn't open it again after the first time.

Rigor mortis has a narrow window, but I figured that is she were past that window, she wouldn't look so peppy and, um, intact.

Posted by The Rabbit (Member # 671) on :

Sorry if I sounded like I was condemning those who didn't find it disturbing. I meant only to explain to those who said they didn't know why others found it disturbing.

Posted by Zeugma (Member # 6636) on :

Okay, cool. I did read it as condemning at first, but not after your explanation. [Smile]

There are a few hours between death and the onset of rigor mortis - (considerably longer than I've spent watching the woman falling) so this could easily fit before the Rigor Mortis window rather than after.

But she's been falling for two days now...

You've been watching for that long?

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

The thread was started a day or so ago, and every time I've clicked the link, she's still falling.

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

Ah, but was she falling when you weren't watching?

We are entering the realm of both philosophy and quantum physics!

Of course from a computer science perspective, the woman is a set of data that is instantiated every time you click. So its really a different woman falling every time you refresh. And its a different woman for each different person who clicks. Then, if the program isn't object oriented, its really just numbers in an array that are reset. Or perhaps the array is created new every time...

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

I love that you felt the need to clarify that, Xav.

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

My beef is that she doesn't accelerate during her fall. I can whip her up to a high speed and she will acctually slow down and hit the spheres kind of slowly. Is it bad that this annoys me?

Not at all. I was just thinking the same thing.

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

I was actually going to do an SWF conversion and change the sprites myself so that it looks like a dude (with clothes on), or maybe an mannequin or something. Though, making it look like a dude with exaggerated, uh, "male features" would be hilarious.
I just don't have the software on this computer.

no make it where you can watch barney fall. then i might use it as a screen saver. [Evil] [Evil Laugh] [Big Grin]

Barney? What is this, 1997?

Posted by The Rabbit (Member # 671) on :

Curious, on my computer she definitely accelerates as she falls. Of course she slows down every time she comes in contact with a sphere. The acceleration is only really noticable when she has a long free fall.

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

That's probably because it's easier for your computer to render just the few sprites that make up the woman by herself. Add a few spheres and it slows your computer down.

Trust me, she doesn't exceed a certain, set speed when in freefall. It's kind of boring.

What is ragdoll physics?

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

Think about it, Syn.

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

The physics of a limp form?
I've never even heard of it...

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

That's pretty accurate. It's a term used a lot in the video game realm. It usually refers to what happens to people you kill in video games (thus adding more to the creepiness of this thread). Good ragdoll physics really add to the immersion level of a game.

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

Fascinating... So, it's something designed to make video game violence more realistic?
*shudder*

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

Yes. Video games are destroying our youth. I, myself, because of ragdoll physics have killed more than 16 people in cold blood. I then have the strange habit of taking them to the tops of large buildings and watching them fall.

Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :

Never really played a lot of FPS. They make me nauseated for some reason.
