I know that we have some Canadians on the board, and I was curious what you think about the Homolka situation...

Serial Killer Released

She's been in jail for twelve years. Whether or not you think that punishment was sufficient or not (I personally do not), it was what was agreed to, and she has served it in full.

On the other hand, I still wouldn't trust her. She is known to be highly intelligent and highly manipulative, and her performance on that TV interview yesterday was a little too perfect for me to accept it as sincere. But there is absolutely nothing to be done unless she commits more crimes. And God willing, that will never happen, and nothing will have to be done at all.

EDIT : An english translation of the Radio-Canada interview with Karla Homolka

Hell no, I don't trust her, nor do I believe anything she ever says. I think she's still dangerous and was not the pawn she claimed to be. And no, I don't think she was in jail long enough.

I have no opinion at the moment, other than that the title combined with the name of the original poster cracked me up.

I think the deal made with her was a terrible mistake. I also think that if we broke that deal at this point it would be just as big a mistake. If we go back on the deal how could anyone ever make a plea bargain again?

I remember hearing CBC say that the investigators were actually incredibly opposed to the plea bargain but it was made anyway. However, as has been said, what's done is done and we can't change it...however, if she should try anything again I'm sure that she'll be sentanced awfully hard because of this previous conviction.
