Working the dishes at a restaurant. It's repetative, mundane, and stressful at 6-8. I don't suggest it to anyone who cant get anything better. At least I get free food and drinks.

I was a professional dishwasher back in the day. I hope you end up with as many fun and interesting stories out of it as I did.

Trust me, however, that after having looked at the food from the POV of what's left on other people's plates, the perk of getting it free rapidly loses its appeal.

I find I kind of like washing dishes though, its very thereputic.

I was once given a summer job of kitchen assistant at a Japanese restaurant in order to get me more exposure to spoken Japanese.

"Kitchen assistant", it turns out, is a variant pronunciation of "dishwasher". Oh well. It was kind of a crappy job, and I'd only do it again if I had to, but I don't regret it. It was good experience.

First job - Grunt (the do what your told to position) at a local pizza restaurant.
Second job - Computer technician.

My first job was in the dishroom of a large and busy dorm cafeteria. There was an assembly line/conveyor belt where we had to grab plates and glasses off the trays at lunchtime and hurry and scrape the leftovers into a sort of gutter of running water that ran towards the disposal. That last position was known as "slop." Man, I really need to remember stuff like that to be grateful for what I have now. . . though dismal job or not, those times were fun!!

I just got a job too! I have returned to the glorious world of Picture Framing.

...and I started on the last day of the 50% Off Everything Sale, and they threw me into selling to customers before they taught me any of the store policies or how their particular computer software works, and before giving me a login for the cash register. Whooiee!
