I'm thinking of a movie that I can't remember the name of. All I know is that it involves a Calculus AP test and a bunch of kids either trying to steal the tests or the answers.

The Perfect Score... was about trying to steal the answers to the SAT.

It was bad. mmmkay?

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

No, it's not Perfect Score. This movie is about Calculus and the AP test. Maybe they don't steal answers, but I know there's a big moral dilemma involved with cheating.

Stand and Deliver.

Ahhh thank you!

You can do another movie and we can make a game. =)

There was this movie about pirates and zombies and pirate zombies in the Caribean. It had some new actor named Dipp or Dopp or something like that in it as a flamboyant pirate captain.

Spice Girls

Was it Pirates of the Carribean?

Alright, seriously. Its a movie starring Nicolas Cage. He robs super markets and falls in love with the police photographer. I think they kidnap a kid from the town they live in because she can't get pregnant.....or something like that.....

If you're serious, Steve . . . it's Raising Arizona.

Posted by Dan_raven (Member # 3383) on :

Raising Arizona (though I've never seen the whole movie.)

Posted by SteveRogers (Member # 7130) on :

Thats it! Is that a good movie?

Posted by Kayla (Member # 2403) on :

Brettly, I don't know if you were kidding, or if you were talking about another movie, but the kids in Stand and Deliver were taking a Calculus test.

quote:
Escalante’s students surprised the nation in 1982, when 18 of them passed the Advanced Placement calculus exam. The Educational Testing Service found the scores suspect and asked 14 of the passing students to take the test again. Twelve agreed to do so (the other two decided they didn’t need the credit for college), and all 12 did well enough to have their scores reinstated.

Yea that sounds right. My calc teacher in HS wanted us to see that movie as a class, but it never happened. I'm still curious to see it though.

Are you kidding? We watched that movie in every single math class I ever took.

"What's cal-COO-lus?"

Oh! Can I play?

What is the name of the movie where the world is made up of Thinkers who live up in the top of the world and Workers who live underground?

(edit for typo)

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

Is it black and white?

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

The Time Machine!

Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :

Yes, it's black and white.
No, it's not The Time Machine.

Hint:
'Tis a silent movie.

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

Ah! Man I know the movie, I've seen it! But I can't think of the name. And there are all those machines and things.

Raising Arizona is a *must-see* - absolutely hysterical. Nick Cage, Holly Hunter and John Goodman. If you haven't seen it, go rent it. It's hilarious. (IMHO anyway)

Do you need more hints?

Posted by Kayla (Member # 2403) on :

Ugh, is this a game, or do you people really want to know the answers? Cause I know the answers, I just don't want to ruin a game if that's what you are doing, but if you want to know the name of the movie, I can tell you. I thought the first post really wanted to know the name of the movie, but I can't tell with Tante's post.

Posted by Kayla (Member # 2403) on :

Okay, it looks like Tante is playing a game.

Continue then. And nevermind.

Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :

Oh. I thought everyone was playing. Oops. [Blushing]

kojabu was really asking for a name, and then decided to turn this into a game.

Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :

I love games. [Big Grin]

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

yea, I really wanted the name of the movie, but then I thought this would be a fun game... so carry on. And if you know the answer, feel free to guess it.

Is it Metropolis?

I was trying to think of a movie the other day, can't remember the name. Probably from the 80's sometime. There is a van that is covered in mud, you can't see who is inside of it. I'm pretty sure the people in the van were gonna kidnap a child, and at the end there is a long chase scene between the van and a schoolbus which ends with the van driving off a cliff into some sort of quarry. Anyone know what this is?

You got it S'William! I just love Metropolis.

Everyone should see it at least once.

Posted by The Pixiest (Member # 1863) on :

I didn't like Metropolis... Unless you're talking about the anime version [Roll Eyes]

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

I thought it was weird. I'm in a group for my major (city and regional planning) and we watched it for one of our movie nights.

(edited because i left out the major.. oops)

1927. Fritz Lang. No anime.

Tante, I liked the movie, too.

Is it worth $7.50? Because my Wal-Mart has it for sale at that price.

What a bargain! Enjoy!

And I am clueless regarding the mud-covered-van-school-bus-kidnapping-falling-off-a-cliff-into-a-quarry movie from the 80's.

"Escape to Witch Mountain" had a chase scene with a mud-splattered RV. No school bus, though. And google isn't yielding the answers on this one, unless it is a "Magic School Bus"

Thanks for trying Tante. I know I saw it at least 3 or 4 times on tv back then, but I was only 6-8 years old at the time, so it is quite difficult to remember. Perhaps some other hatracker will be able to help.

A made-for-TV movie, then? I'll try again.
