I thought that to compliment the spoilers thread where everyone is speculating on future plot twists and turns for the final Harry Potter, I start a thread where people could establish their creditials as Harry Potter analysts.
So, what is your track record for predicting Harry Potter? Tells your triumphs and failures.
Here is my best triumph, after I read POA, and long long before OTP, I predicted that Trelawney's first real prophecy was that Harry Potter would kill Voldemort and that this prophecy was the reason Voldemort had come after Harry when he was only a babe.

I'm with Steve for the most part. I'm pretty good at predicting things within one book, like after I've started reading a lot of the clues seem obvious to me, but I'm not as good at the predicting the next book game.
With one exception. After Dumbledore's big speech to Harry in the hospital wing at the end of the first book I said "Well, he's good as dead before we get to the last book." I don't really consider that impressive, though. It's about on par with my "Harry wins at the end" prediction.

I predicted the prophecy as well at the same point, although not the "marking as equal" stuff.
I predicted Quirrel as the villain in book 1.
I predicted Tom Riddle as the villain and Ginny's involvement under duress in book 2.
I predicted Sirius was not actually guilty, but I certainly didn't pick up on the rat's involvement. I suspected Lupin. So my book 3 record is mixed at best.
I predicted Harry's name would come out of the Goblet (ok, everyone predicted that . I did not predict the portkey, and still think it a needlessly complex plot by LV.
I predicted little in Book 5. I had heard someone died and guessed Sirius, but didn't really predict it. I did predict that it was Umbridge that had sent the dementors to the Dursleys, about halfway through the book. I did not predict that it was the prophecy they were after.
I predicted Dumbledore's death, but not at the hand of Snape. I don't think I predicted much else in Book 6 except that it would end with Snape's loyalty ambiguous.

I predicted Neville was using his father's wand after reading book four.
I'm told this ended up being true, but I never managed to finish book five, so I dunno.

I predicted the Trelawney making the prophecy when Dumbledore said that it's the second time she's made a prophecy. I reread that right before OotP came out. Everything before that I can't remember if I made any predictions or not. I starting reading HP when the 2nd one 1st came out I think. I'm 15 now so do the math. I don't think I could've made any predictions 1st time through any of the earlier books.

I suck at predicting. I haven't predicted anything that came true except for the obvious ones.
I also am surprised by the endings of Agatha Christie novels that I have read before. I suspect my brain is doing this deliberately.

I didn't start reading the books until after book 4 was released so I read the first four books in one gulp (so to speak). As a result, I really didn't have time to think and predict much within those books.
Usually when I read mysteries, I've got the plot figured out quite early in the book. One of things I've liked about Harry Potter is that JKR continues to surprise me. None the less, I've found the last 2 books more predictable than the first four. I've wondered whether that's because I've had more time to digest the clues dropped in the earlier books or if JKR is simply becoming more predictable.

I think book 7 will be predicted correctly where possible. I'm sure there will be a lot of things that were impossible to predict, though.

Read up to book 2 and knew ron and hermione were hooking it up later in the books.
After reading book 5 I was SURE that Harry and Ginny were going to hook it up in book 6
By book 4 I was convinced that Draco was going to have a moment of concience and either work with harry or do something good. I was quite pleased to see sweet vindication in book 6
The two things I honestly never saw coming and I wish I did was Sirius' death, and Dumbledores in book 6. I thought strongly that Dumbledore would likely die but I was SURE it would be in book 7 if ever and no sooner.

I also predicted Harry and Ginny.
I TOTALLY called Dumbledore's death in the 6th book, right after I finished book 5. I knew someone major had to die and he was the obvious choice.

I knew Dumbledore would die before Book 7 - Harry needs the entire span of a book to develop and finish his quest.
And I'm predicting this now - Harry will die as a direct result of the final battle with Moldy-Warts. He will not live beyond seeing His Evilness fall.
