I'm taking world politics this semester for my International Studies major. Each week we are required to write a one-page response on the chapter that we read that week. This week it was on realism in politics, or "power" politics. The main concepts are that nations are the main actors, nations are rational (they'll do what maximizes interest), the main currency in the world is power, and that nations live in anarchy.

It was the anarchy that caught my eye.

I immediately thought of Ender's game and the hegemony that Peter creates. So I wrote my paper about what would be better, a hegemony such as the one in the books, or the anarchiac state that we live in today. I also talked about what it would take for the world today to be united under one government. It was my favorite paper that I've written so far.

When I got the paper back my professor said that I should take a class called "Sci-fi in International Relations." I can't wait

I didn't know that such a class existed! Perhaps, I should do some reasearch into the matter.

Or a link to your proffesor's website, if they have one.

Unfortunately, I haven't taken the class yet, and probably won't for another year or so. But I promise when I take the class (which I can assure you I will), I'll make sure to post my notes and whatnot. I think that we at least study Ender's Game and Star Wars, but I'm not sure what else they'll cover in the class.

By the way here's the link to the professor's biography. Apparently the class he teaches is called "International Relations in Film and Fiction," but he focuses on sci-fi
