I was just getting off the trolley and making my way home when all of a sudden two dragonflies pair up and start up their little baby factory. My roommate Nicole was a little behind me, its a big coincedence that she was there, I didn't remember seeing her in the trolley. I guess I'm just the type to fill the air with love...Oddly enough, whenever someone is near me, they say I make the room heat up. My aunt Barbara says that whenever I am in her car, the windows oddly enough fog from the inside, and I have noticed that too. I radiate love!!! [Smile]

I remember seeing some ducks going at it once. I thought the male duck was killing the female because apparently during sex, the female is completely under water.

I thought the same thing when I saw cats going at it. There was like 10 tomcats after my queen! The one that eventually got to her kept bitting the back of her neck like some freakin' vampire. When Mizu came back to me after it was over, her neck was completely mauled! She wasn't dead or hurt though, she didn't even seem to care about it...

I remember seeing a duck "gang-raped" similarly. She didn't seem to appreciate it. Afterwards, she kept washing herself in the water as though she felt "dirty" afterwards.

Yes, I am anthropomorphizing a great deal.

Whoa, Altariel! I guess sex in the animal kingdom can be pretty rough on the females.

Yeah, females get the downside, but at least they don't get eaten by their mates. Black widows for instance...Yeah, we can be pretty darn ruthless too.

This reminded me of "species" when the girl has to kill the father of her child after she eventually gets laid....

Two friends and I accidentally caught a glimpse of this happening at the National Gardens in Athens. (We were studying in London that semester and took a weekend trip to Greece.) Happy garden wandering, turn the corner, and BAM! Two other ducks were literally holding the poor thing down!! And the noise they were making!! [Eek!] We all stared in absolute horror for a second, then immediately turned and ran in the opposite direction, feeling horribly guilty that we hadn't done something to prevent nature from taking its course. It was definitely a cornea-scarring experience....and that's still one of the first things I think of when I remember that weekend, even though it was over 3 years ago.

Wow, Altáriël, you could make money with that talent. I mean, just think about it:

Tips would increase at Hooters when you're present . . .

You'd make one heck of a relationship counselor . . .

Not to mention the obvious benefits in animal husbandry . . .

Though I have to say, I don't think it's the sort of knack that will ever belong to a featured character in an Alvin Maker novel.

I would LOVE to be in the book! In fact, I think I would kill to be in it. :bares teeth again:

Dang, maybe that IS my real life knack. To illustrate what I saw, since I didn't have a camera at that moment, of the many moments I wish I did, I have found this very informative website. The picture is pretty much what I saw, except for the fact that the dragonflies were about three inches long.

Did somebody say something about how size doesn't matter?
