Doom comes out this Friday and I was wondering what you all thought about it.

It looks stupid.

It looks scarily bad.

It looks even less fun than watching somebody else play the game.

Here is a pretty funny trailer review of Doom.

you expected anything else?

the greatness of the game ws that it was pretty much brainless violence... the movie should be the same, though it looks to me a little *too* much like Doom 3. I *do* like that they took pains to make it look like an FPS, though.

I will probably rent the dvd.

That's the part that looks the worst.

mph, I agree...I saw the trailer when I went to see Serenity (twice) and that part looked weird, and not very intertaining, at least to me.

It is a neat gimmick, but I think it has already gotten old and I haven't even seen the movie yet. [Smile]

I think it'll be fun to go see and laugh my head off at. Watching it with a bunch of gamer geeks would be a hoot, especially with people who've played the game. We'd all just sit back and make fun of it. So while the movie looks absolutely terrible, hours of fun and jokes could probably be derived from it [Big Grin]

I have played too many hours of Doom not to go see this movie, even if it is incredibly bad

Pains being the key word there.

I'll go see it. It's a nice cheesy escape that my wife will go see, as well as another couple.

I don't see the point in using the FPS view in the movie. Why watch a movie that looks like you're watching your brother play a game, when you can go out and play the darn game yourself?

I think it looks incredibly bad. I may have mentioned this already in a different thread, but the one thing that would redeem it in my eyes at this point would be for The Rock to fall from an incredibly high point, hit the ground on his feet and keep walking without the slightest evidence of injury, not even a wince, and for nobody else in the movie to think there was anything the slightest bit odd about that.

If you've played Dooms 1 or 2, you know why.

It'll be just like the game, only without the fun.

I just hope that the Halo movie adaptation won't be as bad as the movie adaptation of Doom. They'll probably both suck, but that is how it goes.

I did like that they had the BMFG floating and rotating for the Rock to just find.

As an aside, the Rock is actually a decent actor. The Rundown was quite enjoyable, and the Rock was good in it.

I wanna see it. But I want to see almost every movie, especially action movies.

But I don't like the Rock. He annoys me.

Vin Diesel would've been better, in my completely unbiased, non-hormonally-driven opinion. [Wink]

I'll wait and see what people have to say about it. As much as I love the games, it just... doesn't seem to fit for me. That and I dislike the FPS view point.

Though, it seems they will be keeping the same basic feel... chain-saw on a pinky, awesome.

In that case, Jessica Alba would've definitely been the best for the role [Big Grin]

I'm going to see it, simply because I love the Rock.
