I'm out there in cyberspace, minding my own business, and I'm confronted with a harsh reality.

I'm NOT 28.

I told someone I'm 28 years old as recently as yesterday. But I'm not.

I put my birthday on a forum...and was browsing the calendar to see who else had a birthday near mine. Guess what? I'll be 30 in June of 2006. I'm not 28. I'm 29.

Oops. You'd think the whole 2006-1976=30 thing would stick with you.

Don't feel bad. I got stuck at thirty - it was such a big number that I guess I thought once I reached it I'd stay there forever. Not so. I'm 33.

I'd wondered why my husband's age and mine were getting farther apart!

*sigh* I feel old sometimes... If it makes you feel better, maybe we're the same "ideal" age. Maybe we're both 28 and can be 28 together forever.

I've been stuck on 18 for the last 2 years. I have to stop for a second everytime someone asks me my age and remember that I'm 20, not 18. It's rather embarrassing, I'm supposed to still be in the looking forward to getting older age group.

My aunt was just telling me about this phenomenon. She's.. thirty-eight. And she told me she had to think for a while to remember. I guess she's not as weird as I thought. Or maybe she is, considering how weird Jatraqueros are. :smile:

I just had my birthday, so I'm painfully aware of my age...

But I remember a few years ago being asked my age and I couldn't remember at all. I said the first thing that came to my mind. When I finally did the math I was appalled with how *young* I thought I was.

I do that sometimes, saying I'm younger than I am. I have a hard time believing I'm 20 (and almost 21 now), when I still feel like I'm 12. *shrugs* Thus is life though.

I have to do that sometimes too, trying to remember how old I am. It didn't happen before I was 30, though -- I was SO looking forward to being 30 that I had no trouble at all remembering I was twentywhatever. It was like a wonderful countdown to the best age. I'm trying to look as forward to 40, but it's not quite coming as naturally. I am starting to get excited about 50, though, since I'll be empty nesting then.

A few months ago, Coccinelle referred to me as being 26. This was odd, considering I'm a few months older than she is. However, I was 26 when we met, so I guess that's my age.

You know, I kind of miss those days when I was something-and-a-half. Or something-going-on-something.

No one ever says "I'm forty-and-a-half" or "I'm forty-going-on-forty-one". The best I can do is "pushing", like "I'm pushing fifty".

I'm almost 20.75, just a few more days. I'm a nerd though in that I somewhat keep track of it. It started though since a friend's birthday is on my half-birthday.

As long as your response when people ask you how old you are isn't "this many", with a number of fingers held up for viewing, I think you're doing okay.

I often have to think for a minute before I can tell a person how old I am. It isn't uncommon for me to say "well, I was born in '71, so I guess that would make me X"

Okay, let me ask something here (since this is an age thread). Is it just me or is it funny that I could be teaching high school and still have the same driver's license that was issued to me my junior year of high school?

I don't have much of a problem remembering my age, seeing as I'm 15, but up until sometime near the begining of this year, ever since 2000, I always still unconsciously considered it being the year 2000 when doing any kind of age, or year computing in my head. Until I would say wait, that would make me 10 years old, man, it doesn't seem like it was that long ago since 2000, but it does seem like it was a long time ago since I was 10.

I can always remember how old my husband is, but I have to think about my own age. Weird. The good thing is that we're exactly four years apart (we share the same birthday) so at least it's easy to figure it out.

I have the same problem... except I had it in the reverse. I told several people I'd be turning 28 for my last birthday--but I actually turned 27. It took my mother several minutes to convince me of this.

I blame it on the fact that we're 0 years when we're born. I think of this as my 28th year of life, since on my 28th birthday, I'll have finished my 28th year. My way of thinking of it is much worse than the traditional, though, so I endeavor to change.

That's ok as JenniK says, (she had her birthday last March) "It's the first anniversary of my 29th birthday!" Not old at all.. although she refuses to grow up...something about a promise to Wendy from Peter Pan.

My dad was 23 for a rather large portion of my childhood considering that he was 22 the year I was born. Then one day he was suddenly 30, and I realized he couldn't have been 23 the entire time . It was quite confusing for a while.
