Yeah, that's kinda what I was wondering o_O

I got some pretty awesome books on aeronautical and astronautical engineering as well as books on rocket propulsion. Gonna keep me busy for some time to come.

Hmmm, only thing I got was a $50 gift certificate for Sears [Taunt] . An' I got that a couple weeks ago. I don't do Christmas (As it is I just came home from work). Haven't done Christmas 7 years running. It's kinda nice not having to worry about what to get someone for a change. An' they finally have stopped asking me what I want. I guess "nothing" was too hard for my family to understand.

Kwea, with all the Onamism and related threads that start up I don't think it matters, I didn't use any swear words or were esp. explicit in my description of it.

Other then that it was a gift from my moms friend.

I got a bunch of sweaters (which I asked for and needed) and socks (which I neither asked for nor needed) and salt and pepper grinders and gift certificates and earrings from my brother. My boyfriend gave me a TI-89 which I needed since my 86 broke last semester. And a lot of smaller stuff that I won't bother listing.

It was so much more fun watching everyone else open their gifts. For the first time my brother loved his present (Fight Club and A Clockwork Orange on DVD) so I was really proud of myself.

I got a tshirt that says "Heartless" and has daggers on it from my friend Ian. A custom-made "the moon rulz #1" shirt from Matt. [Smile] Chocolates from my sister. I think that's it...my mom has been taking me shopping a lot, though.

My mom bought me a brand new matching set of luggage. And she's going to get me a whole bunch of things from Victoria's Secret, including some cute throw pillows. Basically, I'm going to put it on my VS card, and she's going to pay it. But VS is being difficult, so I have to call them tomorrow.

She also bought me a new denim miniskirt with a lace hem. And a little purse because my old one broke. She wants to buy me a nicer one, as soon as I find one that I like (I'm very picky about purses).

I got a fluffy teddy bear and some Jelly Bellies for my nephew, a summer sausage and cheese set with a cutting board and knife and things for my dad, and Rapture by Victoria's Secret for my mom. And a gift box of Very Sexy for Him for my little brother. And a gorgeous glass candle for my sister. It has oranges and stuff in it, and it smells pretty. Oh, and I took my nephew to see Chicken Little last night. It was adorable.

I got several books, I'm most especially excited to read the LOTR Unfinished Tales and The Conquest of Gaul by Julius Caesar.

I also got Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Star Wars Ep. III.

The best present was my Red Wings jersey, number 40, Henrik Zetterberg. And I got a guitar with an instructional dvd, and several live DMB cds that I didn't have yet. I also got a really nice pair of leather gloves from my best friend, and season 1 of Home Improvement.

Best Christmas ever [Smile]

I disagree. First of all, there are vanishingly few honest to goodness onanism threads. Rather, we joke about their existence. Even when there is, though, we generally talk about whether it's wrong or sinful, and we are not explicit, as, contrary to your assertion, you were.

I got...

-perfume (Amazing Grace by Philosophy)-my favorite scent!

- Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell

- There and Back Again: An Actor's Tale by Sean Astin

-a Narnia book set from Xavier (a REALLY nice ones that have color illustrations) [Kiss]

-a teapot

-a ceramic angel with a bible passage on it (it was the thought that counts)

-thick pink fuzzy socks

-pajamas (always a winner with me)

-one of those cushions that helps you sit up in bed to read

-concert tickets to see Nine Inch Nails in February

I made off like a bandit!

I got Serenity and BSG Season 1 from the Hubby. My Mom had taken me to Bed,Bath & Beyond and let me pick out what I wanted so I got a great large bamboo cutting board and an awesome microplane box grater. And my Pa surprised me with gift certificates to a local spa. The best gift I got today though by far was watching my 14 month old tear into her presents and giggle helplessly as my Mom wrestled with her in front of the Christmas Tree. Priceless. [Big Grin]

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

I got Octavia Butler's Fledgling, Neil Gaiman's Anansai Boys, Maureen McHugh's Mothers and Other Monsters, Dozois, Martin, and Abraham's Shadow Twin, the board game Monsters Menace America and the tile game Carcassonne, which came with a river expansion. Supposedly there is still one box making it's way to me via the US mail, so Christmas isn't quite over for me yet.

What's the difference between WoW full and whatever other version there is? I bought it a few days ago...

I got West Wing seasons 4 and 5, Serenity, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, $25 gift certificate to Borders, and money.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

kojabu -

you mean the difference between full and widescreen? Otherwise, I think the version out right now is the only one out when it comes to special features.

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

No, Blayne said something about World of Warcraft (WoW) full. Unless that game comes with full or widescreen versions. Or maybe I'm really confused now.

Posted by Astaril (Member # 7440) on :

Lyrhawn, don't believe everything you read in Caesar... [Razz]

Kojabu, I think you should make new characters on Staghelm realm if it's not full. Then you can play with *me*!

Um.. how do I know if it's full?

Considering he was writing it to make himself look better to the people of Rome, and to use his conquest of Gaul as a propaganda piece to vault his own popularity in Rome, I think I'll take it with a grain of salt [Wink]

But who cares if it is true or not? Either way, it'll be a great read.

I only wish I could read something from Vercingetorix, but I don't think anything has survived. And if there was, it is probably in French now.

Kojabu -

lol sorry, I thought WoW meant War of the Worlds, in reference to someone getting the DVD for Christmas. Ignore me [Blushing]

Posted by Astaril (Member # 7440) on :

Huh. I don't know for certain. I suppose you just choose it from the list of realms and create a character, and if it lets you, then it's not full!

A few good books, SNL's first five years, Serenity (plus some clothes that continue my trend of dressing like Mal), and the RENT soundtrack. Plus a lot of journals. All my friends gave me journals. I don't even write on paper much. Weird.

May the dance of happiness commence.

A dear friend of mine came into a big whack of money about a week ago. When I heard about it, I immediately started teasing him about buying me a Scooba for Christmas. I was totally kidding, but the crazy bastard actually DID it [Eek!]

So we flopped on the couch and watched Babylon 5 while the Scooba scrubbed my kitchen floor (I have a HUGE kitchen, and had been strenuously avoiding that chore ever since I moved into this house a year and a half ago [Embarrassed] ). The floor is now cleaner than it's ever been, and I'm still a little bit in shock.

I got "Serenity". It arrived from Amazon on Christmas Eve. I squealed when I opened it. I watched it as soon as we got the living room clear of wrapping paper and boxes.

I also got "Firefly" and "Scrubs" Seasons 1 and 2.

-an alarm clock which docks and plays my ipod (complete surprised from my mom!)
-"Hocus Pocus" and "Slapstick" by Vonnegut
-the old musical "King and I" dvd
-the British adult hardcover set of Harry Potter. I'm not touching these. They're so gorgeous. I have a set of the regular American hardcovers but I've read and loaned them out so much that they're starting to fall apart. These were also a complete suprise. Books 5 and 6 n't delivered yet so hopefully they'll come before I go back to school.
-got some nice clothes and jewelry
-and a big pink bathrobe with embroidered ducks on it. so warm and cute!

My uncle decided he wanted to do presents this year so, after giving to charity like we always do, we found ourselves having to blitz out a few presents in the last few shopping days of the year.

I am currently wearing a long sleeved shirt with a collar that I actually find comfortable and, dare I say, looks very good on me. I don't know if I'm ready to move in with Long Shirt w/ Collar and keep Ratty T-Shirt around only for summer flings, but thoughts of settling down with respectable shirts are creeping into my mind.

...an awesome dessert fondue from my Secret Santa here, Jeni.

...and a SEWING MACHINE from my parents and sister!

Yep, I'm happy.

There's a World of Warcraft "trial version" which only lasts 10 days and can only reach level 20, however nothing else within the game is limited to you. The full version comes with 30 days free and can go up to any level I want as long as I spend whatever amount of time playing to reach that level. The 10 days thing comes with the full one inwhich you can give to another friend for ANOTHER free 30 days I think.

I got two garlic presses (that's totally my husband's fault, he should have known my dad was getting one for me! [Razz] I appreciate it anyway), a hat/scarf/gloves that I'm allergic to (25% rabbit fur-- guess what's going to the Hatrack Free Store?), gift cards to Target (yay!!!), very nice photo paper from my aunt (is that a hint?), homemade hot cocoa mix and mint marshmallows from my cousin (which I won't use, but Jeff will), Magic Street, new scrunchies (which I asked for, it's been 4 years), an electric heating pad (ooooooh, we've been using the heat-up-in-the-microwave kind and this even comes with a wettable cover for moist heat), silicone baking pans, flannel sheets for our bed (mmmm!), a one-pound gift cert. for See's (BORDEAUX!), a cute purse, a Flock of Ducks at Heifer International, a basket of goodies from my sister, and some other things I just can't remember.

And we're not done yet. We're going to Dallas (my dad's birthday/Christmas gift to Jeff), and I'll be picking up a few there, too, and then my step-sister will be in town this week, and... In my family, Christmas lasts, like, two or three weeks.

I got some lotion and bubble bath in my favorite scent from Bath and Body Works from the kids. I got 2 new outfits that were both soft and cuddly and warm for the days after chemo, and a pillow that can be heated up to put around my neck to comfort me during chemo. (the chemo room is always cold) My husband also got me some beautiful amethyst earrings and my dad and stepmom sent us a storm station thingie that charges and when the power goes out it operates a weather alert radio and a tv and flashlights. It's cool. (They worry about the tornados we get.) My Dad also sent us a flag that flew over Guantanamo Bay with a certificate of authenticity from the joint task force, so it has the emblems of every branch of the service. Very cool. It's on the mantle now. I've never had a flag in a presentation case before and it looks great up there.

Hey Belle, did you ever get the package I sent? It was weeks ago. Just want to make sure it got to you.

This was a very nice Christmas. My husband bought me a red minivan ('06 Dodge Grand Caravan). [Big Grin] And earrings to match. My son gave me Mr & Mrs Smith. My brother gave me BSG the Miniseries, Serenity, and the Serenity visual companion book. My mom gave me a copies of Rebecca the book and the movie in a box with a note about how she hopes they'll help me finish my novel. It made me cry. My dad gave me a purse, a scarf and a couple of vests. And my daughter gave me kisses.

It was a very nice day. Now for the cleanup....

I got a set of two lovely candles.

That's really it. My husband and I had several things we bought throughout the year that we called our Christmas presents.

The candles were from my MIL. She makes gel candles. Very beautiful. And my family isn't exchanging presents this year, just some for the kids.

I must admit, I do miss the experience of seeing what other people pick out for me. I like opening presents. But it was a nice holiday.

I got a new Bible and Bible case(my old Bible was looking really beat up and ratty), a Bible Guide(it's got historical info and cool stuff like that, including pictures of the remains of certain biblical towns), manuscript paper(the kind you write music on), a new flute/piccolo cleaning kit, a robe, $200 from my grandparents in Florida, and a gift card to WalMart from my grandparents here.

We were kind of short on money this year, as compared to other years, and there have been some problems between my parents(long story short- they almost divorced), so this wasn't exactly the BEST Christmas I've ever had, but it was still nice.

Posted by Belle (Member # 2314) on :

Jeniwren, yes I did, and the kids (and me!) love it!

Unfortunately, the envelope got lost and thrown out in all the Christmas madness so that's why I haven't been able to send a thank you note to you.

I also owe KarlEd one for his sweet present.

If you bought your game from the store (or got it as a gift) it should be the full version. The trial version is free for 10 days and you download it off the net, whereas with the full retail version you install it from a disc and you get 30 days free and then you have to start paying a monthly fee or buy game cards every 60 days.

T_Smith, you got xfire? Blayne.bradley@gmail.com, search for it in xfire and add whatever is some varient of dwr + vassili + zaitsev

Once we're both on, I'll give you a teamspeak IP if you got a mike.

Posted by Zeugma (Member # 6636) on :

kojabu, yes, it's an alternative to a mouse. They're usually used in addition to a mouse, for when you need to draw something in the computer, but they're becoming more and more popular in the 3D animation industry as a mouse replacement, since we often need to draw anyhow, and the mouse puts a lot of strain on the wrist. The pen and tablet is less likely to cause stuff like carpal tunnel, since it's a more natural position for your wrist to be in, and on the bigger tablets, requires some whole-arm movement. [Smile]

- black cashmere sweater and light lavender pearl necklace, bracelet, and earrings, from my dad
- Sense and Sensibility, cozy down blanket, I Capture the Castle (book), and chocolate and lotion, from Matt's parents
- money from Grandparents
- The Pleasure of My Company, from a friend [Smile]
- large wall hanging, from brother
- crepe maker, from baby brother
- coasters and a children's book, from Molly
- delicious chocolates, from romanylass

Coccinelle and I haven't exchanged gifts yet. <oops> I know what I want to get her, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. This is getting sort of sad - I'm so sorry. *hides in embarassment* Actually, I think I give up. Time to find it on the internet. All hail internet!

I got a stocking! I haven't had a stocking in years, but Rob's lovely parents did one for me and one for Rob. We didn't even put them out - they just turned up outside our door on Christmas morning! In my stocking I got: lovely fluffy socks, fair trade dark chocolate, and some of those plastic food bag clips, as well as the usual tangerine. I also got: a paper trimmer from Rob, a handmade soap and coconut shell soap dish from Rob's sister, who brought it back from Thailand, a microfleece and a goldfinch feeder from Rob's parents and home made chocolates from Rob's brother and sister-in-law. I wasn't expecting anything really, so I was very excited by all the presents. I think Rob's family liked the gifts that we got for them as well [Smile] .
