Why is it that a professional news stations website like that is full of ugly colour ads and popups whilst hatrack doesn't have one, bar the occasional inconspicuous GoogleAd?

Well, I suppose it didn't matter either way, but it could be because they need to make money off their site, whereas Uncle Orson, I assume, provides this forum out of the goodness of his heart and merely wishes to cover maintenence costs.

Edit - Although you're right, of course, they do rate about a 3.5 on the attractiveness meter.
