The following is a quote from a book I am putting together. I am not looking for critiques or reviews. I just wrote it and thought, "Hatrack would like this."

quote:
Picture God on casual Friday. The long flowing robe, white as virtue and bright as hi-beams, is gone. Instead he is wearing charcoal grey slacks, immaculately clean and pressed to a steal like hem. He wears a pure white button down shirt, with the top button is open. Over that is a comfortable sweater, Cashmere by the look, with a design to intricate to describe. His face is worn, with a few wrinkles here and there, out numbered by the laugh lines. His beard and hair are neatly trimmed salt and pepper, leaning a bit to heavy on the salt.

I look down at the card that was waiting for me as I entered the interview room. It reads "Kevin Smith, Corporate Recruiting." Inside I laugh. Only the night before, I watched a sitcom making fun of the mentally ill. The main schizoid had said "God's first name is Kevin." I looked up at the job interviewer and smiled. Looking over my employment interrogator du-jour I wonder if he was right.

It's interesting. I'd love to read a little more.

A note: I'd watch your tenses and the adverbial too. If this counts as one of those critiques that you're not looking for, my apologies. I just thought I'd mention it.

[Smile] I like how you linked a concept and an unrelated event into one joke.
