Oooh, awesome. I almost went to the comic book store yesterday; glad I didn't, because I would have been upset to hear I missed the TPB by a day. I'll stop there tonight after work. [Smile]

Excellent. I pretty much only read TPB, not individual issues, so I've been waiting on this.

How many pages is it?

Posted by Chris Bridges (Member # 1138) on :

104.

Posted by kwsni (Member # 1831) on :

Dag, the individual comics are worth buying just for the covers, whish are incredible.

Ni!

What does TPB stand for?

Trade Paper Back

The artwork from the individual covers is included in the book.

And I don't believe you can get issue 3 easily. You could get a signed copy for like $35... but a comicbook store I called said it was sold out at the publisher.

Oh, ruin my fun, Chris. [Smile]

Huh. I got the third issue just fine when it came out.

Ni!

I saw the 3rd issue in Fred Meyer months ago and didn't get it because I wanted to get them in order. Dumb me.

But I got my TPB on the way home! [Party]

I posted! I hope I win! Although I am buying it today anyway...
Chris, is your disappoint with the TPB just that there wasn't any Bonus features?

Posted by Chris Bridges (Member # 1138) on :

Yup. I have no problems with the TPB itself, it's a great-looking book.

But I'm greedy! I want more stuff! More! More! More! [Smile]

I stopped at the local comics store before work today, and they were sold out! She said their last 2 sold this morning. [Mad]

And since I was on my way to work, I didn't have time to drive across town to a different store, either.

I drove by Big Brain on my way home last night and didn't even think about it. . .

I called my comics shop and got the last one they had in stock, he is reordering though. Oddly enough, almost all the people who ordered the Ultimate Iron Man series are ordering the Serenity TPB....Go figure [Smile]

Maybe people who favor character-driven stories over big booms and unlikely-looking women in spandex?

Nah.

In this month's "Strangers in Paradise" Terry Moore responded to someone asking about SiP's chances of getting on TV by saying, basically, if Joss Whedon couldn't do it what chance did he have?

I came into the firefly 'verse very late in the game. I only watched the series the week before Serenity came out on DVD. Flew through them in a day and a half and then had to wait an aganizing 5 days to see the movie. lol. How many peoeple waited months and months for any new scrap of Joss Whedon goodness? I just like the fact that I keep learing there are new little bits and pieces out there to get my hands on still. thinking about stoping by the store this afternoon and picking up the book. Thanks Chris for your obsesive need to whore out everything Firefly. I only wish you had more goodies to pimp out.

The cover for the TPB is gorgeous! I'm setting aside some money right now.

I'd still love to own a copy (or two) of each issue and will be trying every store I can find when I'm home for Mardi Gras. Nothing would make my roommate happier than a copy with Wash on the cover. There's about 6 or 7 stores we can hit though I'm worried about a) finding Serenity and b) the cover selection.

It seems kind of silly for a trade of only three issues, since most have five or six in them. Still, there's clearly demand, and money is money.

Posted by Enigmatic (Member # 7785) on :

When three issues is all there is to the series, it makes perfect sense. And it's been done before many times with similar mini-series. Though they often do put in more extras like what Chris was saying he wanted.

I picked up a copy at my comics shop yesterday. It's also smaller, dimension-wise, than the usual graphic novel. But I don't care, I love it!
