I think that gets at least an 8 on the Dobie Scale. Let's say 8.5.

I think that deserves the offical Super Dobie Award. Or a SDA.

All in favor, say Aye

Aye

Aye. We should give one out once a year or so. Maybe once a quarter. Or whenever one particularly strikes our fancy.

I'll add an aye to that.

I know enough to know that's music humor.

I have no idea what it means, though.

That's great Megan. You deserve one of these [Laugh] Megan

Yeah, that's why I put it in parentheses. [Big Grin]

(Basically, there are two most commonly used forms of thirds, the minor and the major. The augmented third is one half step larger than the major third, and is rarely used.)

Aye for the SDA. One of the best I've seen in ages.

And Megan made a funny!

Megan,

what is the difference between a 4th and an augmented 3rd?

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

They sound the same, but the note names used are different (and the way they appear on a staff). A perfect fourth would be C to F, while an augmented third would be C to E#.
