So... has it really been that long since a sitting Vice President shot a man? I can't think of anyone between Aaron Burr and Dick Cheney.

Some other similarities:

Burr outraged many people with his plans to invade and conquer Mexico.
Both became Vice President in a hotly contested race that many opponents claimed had been settled dishonestly.

Coincidence? I think not.
