Election Wars

quote:
Shown to lawmakers on Thursday night, the video lampooned GOP political opponents as "The evil Democrat empire." California Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader, was depicted as "Darth Nancy."

As Jon Stewart said, the Democrats are at best the Ewoks, and they aspire to be Jawas. The Republicans control all three parts of the government, why are they trying to hard to paint themselves as the underdogs?

The Democrats probably should have said as much, but in typical Democratic fashion they decided to set off a nuke instead of using a sniper rifle.

quote:
The "empire" soon struck back, as Pelosi and other Democrats announced that Star Wars director George Lucas would be appearing with them at a town hall-style meeting at the Capitol next week.

I understand I guess why Lucas would appear, seeing his films perverted in such a fashion probably made him angry, but really he should have stayed out of it. And the Democrats should have laughed at it and portrayed it as ridiculous and amusing instead of their overacted "I take offense to that!" response to everything.

But seriously, who are the Republicans trying to fool?

The american public. Here's a hint, they've been winning for a bit over a decade now. The Republican playlook looks like this "Do something, then wait for the Democrats to do something foolish that makes them look like out-of-touch, pompous jackasses."

Only the Democratic party could turn the vice-president shooting some guy in the face into a victory for the Republicans.

President Bush, an Ivy League educated, silver spoon son of a former President, ran his first campaign as a poltical outsider and all around common guy and won.

The Republicans can totally pass themselves off as the underdogs because 1) they control the narrative and 2) the democrats act like a bunch of superior prigs.

Doesn't say much for the intelligence of the American people.

And quite frankly, for the intelligence of the American media.

When asked about polls, Bush responded that if he worried about them, "I would be in the fetal position right now, which wouldn't be a pretty sight," one participant said.
[ROFL]
I would pay...WELL...to see that.

Don't kid yourself. The US media is very intelligent. They know what sells, they know how to sell it, and they know how to do it with as little work as possible.

"There's a group called Swiftboat Veterans for Truth? And they're attacking Kerry? Do they have evidence to back themselves up? No? Oh well, forget I asked that last one. We can just print the fact of the accusation, which will save us from actually having to fact-check their claims."

Alright then, for the morality of the American media.

When it comes to political races, Democrats are expert at shooting themselves in the foot. Good grief.
For Sherrod Brown? Whose only job qualification is standing around helpless while the Republicans overran Congress?
