This was the front page of the Globe and Mail, a Toronto newspaper, a few days ago. I think the kid is absolutely adorable, and this story is just incredible.

That is a seriously cute baby!

And an amazing story. Wow. I'm so happy when people make the decision to donate organs, in what is necessarily a horrible and tragic time.

That is amazing.

I am so grateful for all organ donors, but especially those parents who can make the choice to give their childrens' organs. That must be so hard, even though, like the article quotes, "'One child can die, or two children can die.'" Oh, that baby is so sweet. That IS just a miracle.

That's wonderful! I'll bet this baby Xander will do something great in the world [Smile]

That baby is not cute. That baby looks like a particularly frightening Muppet.

it IS cute, I thought so even before I read that amazing story! [Big Grin]

He *is* cute. He looks slightly turtle-ish, but I find that adorable in babies.

(Really.)

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

Ah. See, I like my babies with a little less turtle in them.

He's adorable.

And that is a very cool story. [Smile]

Tom, wasn't it Bill Cosby that said of his first newborn, "congratulations, you've just given birth to a lizard"?

Cute is subjective!

Tom clearly doesn't know cute when he sees it.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

I do too. [Smile]

I take it back, Tom. You do not have total cute-blindness, just partial cute blindness.

But honestly, those pictures you linked to are so darn cute that even the totally cute-blind would be able to perceive the cuteness in them.

Tom, are her eyes really as light a shade of blue as they appear in some of those pix? Definitely a beauty! ;-)

I can see this thread becoming totally hijacked and turning into a "my kids are cutest!" contest. I'm sure I'd be tempted if I had children!

Hey, just 'cause some of us have incredibly cute kids *resists the urge to link to pictures of her adorable kid* doesn't mean we can't appreciate the cuteness of others' kids. *resists the urge to link to pictures of others' cute kids*

That baby looks ancient.

kq, I seem to recall at least one picture featuring watermelon -- Definitely Adorable!

As I recall, Tom didn't say Sophie was "cute" as a newborn either. So he is consistent...

Now, my baby was cute as a newborn. *gives in to urge*

Sorry. Couldn't help it.

The nurses were in awe.

(And the baby in the article is incredibly cute for a heart transplant baby. They can have trouble gaining weight, although he seems to be doing okay. But that's where the "turtle" look usually comes in.)

And even if he wasn't cute in himself (and he is, I mean the heart transplant baby), his great sweet grin would still get him into Cuteness' Top Ten [Smile]

I love that grin!

And turtles are kinda sweet too, so a little bit of 'turtliness' doesn't do any harm, does it

(to be fair, all the other kids are cute as well [Smile]

...I want to have a baby tooooooo <cries>... or at least a nephew/niece. So that I can spoil them and show everybody what is the true meaning of cute [Wink]

He does look very turtle-y, but he's adorable. I find it highly amusing that both of his parents are zookeepers. Medical technology is such a miraculous blessing.

It's amazing how much Sophie and Emma have changed. I got a little teary thinking about how my Aerin will be that big one day not too far off.

Tom, your kid is so beautiful that I actually feel really, really jealous.

The kid in the article isn't cute; the expression he's wearing looks like more than the standard baby awe at the new person. It's more like an expression of awe at the entire world, and at existing.

I wonder if they ever make exceptions about revealing the identity of the donor. I have this whole sequence in my mind of Xander's parents sending the donor's parents a letter about how much it meant to them, with pictures of Xander, and staying in communication about Xander's life. The donor's parents can't help but weep, looking at what they might have had but for chance, but also rejoice that their child helped save the life of another.

Maybe I watch too many movies.
