In keeping with protocol, as discovered in the thread by JennaDean: "Introduction." I now introduce myself to everyone. I have read Hatrack for a few weeks now - selected humor threads mostly - and finally decided to register and contribute something (hopefully). Some of my RL friends are already involved in this forum (erosomniac & Juxtapose), giving me further reasons to join.
As for OSC... Any author who can capture my empathic thought patterns within a character like Andrew Wiggin (Ender is, of course, far more omniscient than I), deserves my humble adoration and support.
The Hatrack River Forum seems to be a more civilized and cultured evolution of the online forum. I'm a recent college grad from the U.Washington, hosting at a restaurant while trying to get a career started. It's a pleasure to meet you all.

Welcome!
A career in what?
Posted by Infrared (Member # 9196) on :
Well, I'm a Biologist by degree, but I'm interested in both Genetics Research and IT (Information Technology)... separate fields, but interestingly coming together with bio-computing.
[Edit: clarified "IT", just in case]

Are there degrees of omniscient?
OH Yeah, Welcome to Hatrack!

Hi!

Oh, that is very cool. I'm a technical writer with a minor in biology, so it's possible we have something of the same career in mind. How is it going?
And welcome to Hatrack!

Thanks for the welcome everyone!
lem - Technically, no. "Omniscient" does imply one is all-knowing... I guess I meant more that he's closer to omniscience than I (should've wrote it that way the first time...)! Does this mean I have to choose my words more carefully around here?

MORE OF YOU?
I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

Yep.
Welcome to Hatrack.

Ooh, I've met you before. Hello!
Posted by Squish (Member # 9191) on :
Hello roomie! I didn't realize that you had signed up shortly after I gave in and posted for erosomniac's birthday. I supposed I could have posted a new 'Hello!' thread too. But I figured I'm too new with this stuff. Especially since OSC's books have been sitting on my desk for the past 2 months...untouched. I will read them. And then I'll possibly understand what you all are talking about. Adieu.
Posted by Infrared (Member # 9196) on :
eros - who's this "you"? what have you got against my people?
rivka - and here I went on about how different Hatrack was from other forums... :foot-in-mouth:
Celaeno - we did?
Squish - yes... how rude. introduce yourself and read "The Great Works"!
Posted by Celaeno (Member # 8562) on :
Yes. In November. I was in your house, we played I Never, and we watched Invader Zim. (Well, I feel like we watched Invader Zim, but we might've just talked about watching it.)
Hi, it's Kara. Do you remember me yet?

Welcome and stay a while.

Hi, Infrared!
I'm also doing the restaurant-host-whilst-getting-career-started thing, sort of. I'm in grad school, so the career is happening in very slow baby steps.
Welcome to Hatrack!

Infrared and Squish, welcome to the insanity!

Welcome.
Prepare yourself. It's quite a ride.

Welcome infrared! Biology and IT eh? Great, we're a little light on wetware coders, you can fill the void.

We try. But just watch Dagonee and Mr. Squicky go a few rounds about... well, anything, and you'll soon see the knives come out. Just kidding, guys! I love to watch you two go at it.
