As I'm expecting a lot of first-time players, I'm going to start with a round using simplified-standard unlimited-players rules, and I'll start you off with:

Oxford Circus

Holborn

Hmmph. Philistines. Everyone knows that

Piccadilly Circus

is the only acceptable opening gambit for real players.

Erm... we're playing a form of straight rules, and thus it's inadmissible to transfer inversely! How do you like your PiccyC now! <evil laugh/>

Ah, I observe that you have not been following the latest developments. Certainly I cannot transfer inversely, but a nice lateral momentum-shift to Marble Arch puts me in a quite nice position, as you'll soon see.

And since when are momentum-shift rules included in the SIMPLIFIED-standard rules???

Since subclause 15.3 was included in the unlimited-players codex, of course. Really, if you're going to be GM, you must keep up with the latest rules!

Oh dear. I think we've got some date related problems. As you know, subclause is not valid on any day related to the number 23. Being in the UK I posted on the 5th (where 2+3=5) and thus the subclause is not valid. However if you're in the USA, of course the date was the 4th, and so the subclause doesn't apply. For that reason, we'll play assuming that subclause 15.3 DOES apply, and as such you may well ahve a win in 3 moves...

Ah, now I see. Of course you are quite correct. I am glad to see the issue resolved in my favour, although I believe that with skilled play on the part of my esteemed opponents, my Mornington Crescent may be delayed as much as five moves.

Well, as most seasoned players know, the only proper response to a momentum shift is the naming of a general secondary, thus I declare a bypass return to Monument.

(KoM should consider himself lucky, for had we been using New Reformed Rules he would have just crossed a double boundary, setting him back considerably in the long run.)
