So, I know there are some jatraquero Scrabble players. Anyone else use the ISC? I think it's a pretty neat set-up, but then again I've never played online anywhere else. Anyways, I'm Dakoit on there, so feel free to challenge me.

By the by, does anyone have an opinion on the OSPD4? It threw me for a loop, lemme tell ya. ZA, QI, KI, ZZZ .... whats up with that?

EDIT: Guess I should post a linky: Internet Scrabble Club

John Van Pelt and I play there (Marsh and JVP). It's great.

As far as OSPD4, we're studying the new words in preparation for our next big tournament. I'm pretty happy about the new ones. QI and ZA are making a difference in strategy already, but some of the new longer words are pretty fun and funky, too.

Gordita, website, goliaths, digerati, qubyte... wheeeee, new toys [Smile]

I think the official Scrabble dictionary has a lot of problems. Apparently it was originally compiled from several different collegiate dictionaries, some of which were not very good.

A bunch of us used to play at Games.com, but the site was (and probably still us) pretty buggy and would regularly disconnect or kick people. I'll have to give ISC a try sometime.

There are regular and hideously repetitive debates about the OSPD within the tournament community. The dictionary does have a lot of flaws: omissions that make no apparent sense, baffling inclusions... and of course every single one of us has a slightly different idea of what the inclusion rules should be. I know a couple of members of the dictionary committee. They are nerdy and tireless.

It IS good to have a single authoritative word list, though.

ISC is not as fancy-looking as games.com. It has some handy features that I like. It does NOT allow three or four player games, which might bug folks that are used to games.com. The dictionary is not the expurgated one you can buy in the bookstore or that is used at games.com, either. So curse words and slurs are allowed there.
