...that it's me. The band at my school is leaving tomorrow to perform at the Cherry Blossom Festival thing. We're going to be doing a lot of touring.

A list of all the places I can remember:

It's supposed to be quite a trip. And the bus ride up there will include lots of caffeine and no sleep. And the touring will include lots of embarrasing myself in public.

It should be fun.

To summarize, I'll be gone for awhile.

I'm really rather excited.

(My computer keeps killing itself because I'm typing too fast.)

*happy dance* [Party]

That sounds awesome! I love DC. And long bus rides with friends. Hope you have a blast!

That is a freakin' long bus ride, dude! We've had a few incidents at our school so we can no longer take bus trips out of state.

But the band thing sounds cool. What do you play?

Am I the only one who felt the exuberance of the first post and had the following run trough their head?

W-A-S-H, I-N-G; T-O-N, baby, D. C.!

Yeah, I thought so.

genius- I play the trombone. Not only is it the coolest instrument. But it is the ugliest sounding one. Except the oboe.

Bok- I've never even heard of that, so I'd bet so.

Actually, no. And now it's stuck in my head.

My choir director plays a Bach Stradivarius (I think that's the model) trombone. It's a beautiful instrument and actually sounds pretty darn good.

When he plays it.

Have a great time.

I hope you get to see the information processing exhibit in the Smithsonian. It's a hoot and a half.

Sadly, they don't have the full wall of Eniac on display anymore, but it's still pretty darn cool looking at all that old hardware that's about as capable as your I-Pod.

Actually, at least for storage space and retrieval speed, ENIAC was considerably less capable than an Ipod. Not to mention reliability. I suppose it may have had a bit more computing capacity, though.

Actually, Bob, I don't even have an iPod. I still just have an old-fashioned CD walkman. And it's my baby, especially considering its survival rate. It's survived being dropped (a lot), being put in a freezer (not my idea), being put in a microwave (not my idea), and having chocolate milk spilt on it.

Ha ha! Nothing like spreading a little Magnetic Fields goodness [Smile]

Steve, I didn't figure you had, but I know some folks around here are Magnetic Fields fans [Smile]

What kind of music do they play?

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

It's indie-rock/pop/country. With biting sarcasm. You can hear clips on Amazon or iTunes, I'm sure.

Yeah, I listened to a couple of samples. They seem good. But they aren't quite my sort of music.

A book I read about the moon landings said that the computing power of the Apollo 11 capsule was less than a cell phone's, eep...
