Saw this on Slashdot and thought I'd share it here.
I didn't realize that Gaff was played by Edward James Olmos until I read this article.

I saw that and am so confused. I don't understand the difference, but I don't think I care that much either, except for the fact that a new version will make other versions cheaper so perhaps I can finally buy the DVD and replace my stinky old VHS copy

I'm not sure what the new version will be like, but I know that people were up in arms about the voiceover in the original, as well as the cutting of a dream sequence on Decker's part that made Gaff's leaving the little origami unicorns everywhere make sense.

At least the DVD will include the original theatrical version, right?

Yeah. According to the article it will include the original theatrical version, the expanded international theatrical version, the 1992 director's cut, and this latest version. Extras are still to be decided.
