I'm leaving tommorrow to go on an 8 day mission trip with my youth group to the Bahamas (yes, I know. It sounds stupid. Mission trip to the Bahamas- already heard the jokes- so spare me).

It'll be interesting- I haven't been out of the country before. I've gotten to do a lot of traveling (I think) for someone my age- never been out of the country before.

We're going to be running a Vacation Bible School down there- a guesstimated 150 kids. That'll be interesting. And we're working with the poorest Nazarene church in the country- a place where no mission trip has been yet- so that'll be really good. Other than the VBS- we're going to paint the exterior of the church- probably interior too.

So wish me luck- I head out tommorrow afternoon.

Good luck! Will be waiting to hear a report when you return. Seriously, this is not meant to be teasing, do you get to have a day at the beach on this trip or is it all work?

We have Saturday off- then I'm not sure about Sunday except for church. And then evenings off.
(I try to keep in mind that my youth pastor and wife are recent college graduates- she doesn't have a job yet (training to be a teacher) and he's a youth minister and newlyweds therefore they are pretty poor. And I think this will probably be their big trip for the year.)

Many blessings! [Wink] I know many young people going off on mission trips this summer. One of my daughter's best friends is scheduled for one to Peru. Wish I had had opportunities like that when I was a teen - I think it is great for young people to travel to other countries.

I'd like to do a mission trip. My girlfriend is going to Lebanon, and though she invited me along, I couldn't get the funds together.

Sorry Joldo. Mine only cost $800 and $300 I got from relatives ($200 deposite paid by parents) and $250 I raised from church fundraisers. Although I could pay more (meaning I myself could pay more- but I'm content right now not paying so much [Big Grin] )

Edit to Clarify.

Good luck. Perhaps you can post pictures after your return?

And if you are really instrested in upgrading your music appreciation, pay attention to the music down there. You should hear some great reage music. It is kind of like rap, only musical. It is not usually X-rated stuff. It often has religous themes.

Mine was somewhere around two thousand dollars, Shawshank, and I heard about it late notice. Kinda made it impossible.

I figured going to Lebanon would be much more expensive. Sorry- that really sucks. [Frown]
