One of them is also a serial rapist. He's commited 7 rapes. The two killers have taken nine lives and forty people have been shot.

All I can say is [Eek!] [Eek!] [Angst] [Angst] . I live outside the area the two have been operating in, but am still worried.

I'm looking. The only one I've found onle so far requires supplying an email address, which will probably result in spam.

This website for the Phoenix Police Department has a couple of things that might be what you're talking about. One of them is an ongoing investigation but most of the crimes happened in 2005.
The other listing on their site is a string of "possibly related" shootings running from May of 2005 to this month.

However, this story could be related to what you're talking about. I don't know, but it also seems to be just "new information" about an older series of events.

Scarey stuff either way.

Here's one from a local talk radio station's website. link

I'll take rivka's advice and use bugmenot to gwet the other one.

Thanks, rivka.

Karl, the crimes from 2005 are the work of the man they're calling the Baseline rapist. He's still on the loose. Now there's another lunatic, who's randomly shooting people.

Here's a link to the story from a local tv station's web site.

edited to ad this link link to the story from USAToday's web site.

Wonderful. I have family there. Luckily, not in the Baseline's territory, but unfortunately in the serial shooter's, I think. Now I'm scared. [Frown]

For whatever reason, none of these events got much publicity even though both people have been operating for more than a year. *shrug* It only got media attention in the last 2 weeks or so....

Maybe I'm weird, but I feel no less safe that I did before all the coverage. Phoenix (and all it's suburbs) is a huge area with millions (I think it's near 4 now) of people. There is violent crime happening somewhere pretty much every day. Maybe I'm particularly weird in thinking that since it's a couple people supposedly responsible for a bunch of them, it means there are fewer deviants out there than crimes.

I'm with Ludosti on this one. I do find it entertaining it took well over a year for this to make the national news stage. One of my Boston friends asked me if I'm worried yet. My response was that I haven't really been worried for the past year, why would I be any more so now?

One good thing of finally getting some national coverage of the issue... Before maybe 10% to 20% people in Phoenix actually knew that these two creeps were out there. Whatever the number was before, it's a whole lot higher now. More people paying attention to their surrounding makes it riskier for these two individuals to operate (well, it does if they're smart and realize people being attentive is a bad thing). And hey, the Guardian Angels are actually getting press time, which they deserve more than say... the Minutemen.

And in other news, both (actually three total) have been arrested. The Baseline Rapist is facing something around 200, or more, years in prison.

They mentioned that on America's Most Wanted. A show that scares me.
