I’m reading Paradise Lost for the first time. It’s going slowly, because it’s so complex and beautiful I can’t absorb more than a few pages at a time, but I’ve already fallen in love.

Several times in the past we’ve had Hatrack book clubs. Some of my favorite books I read for these clubs. Paradise Lost seems like a perfect fit for that kind of group discussion. Are any of you interested in reading and discussing Paradise Lost in a book club format? I think it would be a lot of fun.

You almost have to read Paradise Lost with a group of smart, well-read folk, or else with a big commentary (the latter of which, I think, takes a lot of the fun out of it).

Paradise Lost really is a beautiful work.

I haven't read a book 'with' other people aside from in a class... I'm game to participate if there's a group.

Buuuuuut - if Silent E's right, the commentary thing could get huge (plus who knows if i'm smart OR well-read comparatively)?

I'm reading Paradise Lost for the first time too. I'm thinking of using it for my undergrad thesis. I'd certainly like to hear your ideas and feelings about it.
