one day I found FFXI in a flea market brand new, I couldnt get it then it was 70$ and my money was at home so I spent the next week gathering needed components.

-The network adapter was a quest in of itself, I had to travel to about 5-7 different computer/games/electronics stores before I found a small used computer game store that had one used.

-Then I realized that my spare VCR was busted so it wouldnt work on my TV in my room so at the flea market I got a RF Modulator and the shelled out 200$ for FFXI, a Gamecube, Smash Bros Melee and an extra controller and a memory card (unrelated).

Then I went home set up my TV, Modulator and PS2 next to my computer (which has 2 screens so I intent to play FFXI, WoW and Eve-Online Simulataniously)

Then I start setting up the network adapter I install the HDD, then the NWA and then i screw them in pop in the disc and configure its network.

Now here's my problem my router is on the first floor my room is in the basement I only have a single ethernet cable going from my room to the router upstairs.

So it means I can either have my computer online or the PS2 online and not both until I pick up a hub (havent gone into town yet).

So I end up having to switch between the PS2 and my computer back and forth as I test different settings, ipconfig /all was vague in regards to my DNS address 192,168.1.1 so I assumed that it was both my primary and secondary.

the default gateway was easy enough but figuring out what the PS2's IP was was much much harder.

At first i tried doing it automatically searching for its DHCP lease but this hung up and never worked even after 5 minutes so I gave up on that and did everythign manually.

I went to ym router controlles and no knowing exactly where to look I thought .1 was the PS2's IP so I kept trying that and setting my DMZ to it as well.

After 5-10 hours of constantly swtiching backandforth and doing other things in the meantime at random I geussed it as 192.168.1.2 and it worked.

And then 5 seconds later at random I found it out as well in my router config.

So I set my DMZ to it saved my connection settings saved it under the name *F--- You Sony* and then installed FFXI.

Everything went okay, patches, rleated software installation etc went fine until I had to register a valid Creditcard number.

I put in all the information used Visa and BOOM! System Error pls try again in a few moments.

I tried refreshing the internet putting in port forwarding and then I gave up after an hour and called tech support.

They said to plug my ethernet directly to the router wait 30 minutes because its also apparently a thing it does to prevent fraud and then try again.

Still didnt work because the connection wasnt set up for direct modem connection thingy.

So I call again get a different tech support guy get a different anwser and says to make sure my date/time is set right.

So I put the router back int the network set DMZ to 102.168.1.2 change the date and time to the proper time. And try again and it works.

After 6 hours of patching later I'm in.

Only to find out that its encredibly difficult to chat with people using PS2 controllers for the ingame keyboard *cries*

Now I need a USB keyboard and mouse.

Took me like 10-15 hours ot get it all working including the patch times I can hradly imagine how someone who doesnt know the bear minimum about computers would have done.

Grandmaster Blayne, before you tackle playing 3 games at once (why? why? [Dont Know]

), try spelling "intend" as a warm-up for your brain.

And you've had school troubles lately?? I can't imagine why. WoW ruins lives. True.

Yet another Final Fantasy that couldn't outdo number 7. Someone really clever must have died in between 7 and 8. I wonder who.
