I'm selling chocolate to raise money for my soccer team. I go door to door around my neighborhood, and sell it. My best friend is also selling the chocolate. As I was walking, I started wondering, which of us could sell more chocolate? My friend is also my complete opposite, so I was curious, and decided to ask the Hatrackers.

Who would you rather buy chocolate from?

Person A

Small, perky, dark skinned girl, with long black hair. Wearing a short skirt and a tank with lots of make-up. Talking on cell phone until she rings the doorbell.

Person B

Tall, sweet, light skinned girl, with short brown hair. Wearing a baggy shirt and basketball shorts, no make-up. Talking to the kids next-door before she heads to the next house.

I don't know if it matters, but it's World Finest Chocolate bars at $1 each.

Person B would be more likely to get my business selling anything-- tall and light-skinned don't matter, but the lack of makeup and modest clothing do make a difference, although I'd prefer that people trying to sell me stuff dress just a tad nicer.

However, the fact that it's World's Finest makes me very unlikely to buy; I only bought one from the neighbor boys. That's some nasty chocolate. If your school sold See's, though, I'd definitely buy from person B. Might buy from person A if she was polite, but would shake my head over the cell phone and the clothes.

And here I thought you were going to actually sell me some chocolate.

come on!

All of the money is going to the same cause. I do understand that there are insentives for selling the most, a portion of your profit goes to your actual fund, the top seller gets a prize, whatever, but I'd just buy from whoever was first. Neither girl went to extremes to impress me, both appear to be coming straight from school, I don't have any preference.

I was the top seller in my high school orchestra for two years mostly because I went directly to the alumni's parents who missed the chocolates, the tickets for events, and the general atmosphere.

dude
i just want chocolate...

I do hope you are only selling to people you know. I'm sure you wouldn't want to put yourself in any unnecessary danger (wearing that short skirt and tank).

I'd probably be more likely to buy from the girl who looks like she needs my help (not the one chatting it up on her cellphone.

Who's cuter [Wink]

Actually, the only thing I'm interested in buying door to door is Girl Scout Cookies. Those things are crack!

I always wondered what Girl Guide cookies were filled with. Now I know!

Dark skinned? Forget it!

By the way, why did you obfuscate the question by throwing in all those other irrelevant details.

Twinky, how many crack cookies have you eaten?

This is so true.

And yes, I would love to buy some chocolate, dagnabbit! Doesn't really matter to me from whom, just as long as there's chocolate physically in my hand at the end of the transaction. [Smile]

Person B, just because they are taking it more seriously without a cell phone.

But if either of them were selling Joe Corbi's pizza, the first one at my door would have the sale.

It would honestly depend more on the cause (soccer team MAYBE) and the brand of chocolate. I personally hate all chocolate except dark chocolate and hersheys syrup.

If you offered me to buy a chocolate bar towards cancer research and it was a milk chocolate bar, I probably would send you away honestly, no matter how desireable the seller was.

Yea I found the question loaded and hideously leading. You seem to already believe that person B is obviously more respectable and will be more successful. I don't get the point of asking...

Loaded question because I won't buy anything from door-to-door salespeople, even kids I know from the neighborhood. In fact, our schools and clubs tell kids that d2d selling is absolutely prohibited for fundraisers because of the potential safety issues.

Besides, I'm close enough to the Worlds Finest Chocolate factory and shop that I could buy em fresh and without the middleman [Smile]

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you're person B?

A great many in my day, young whippersnapper, though I'm clean now. [Smile]

Please tell me I'm not the only person who thinks "Ya wanna buy a duck?" every time they see this thread's title.

Posted by GaalDornick (Member # 8880) on :

A what?

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

A duck.

Does it quack?

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Of course it quacks.

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

You say young whippersnapper like I'm a third your age, instead of less than 5 years younger (which I think is the case). It's not a problem, just funny.

I don't really think Jeesh intended to make the question so biased, but it does read that way doesn't it? It's part of twelve, a part we all went through and refuse to repeat.

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

I'm glad it's funny, seeing as how it was a joke. [Big Grin]

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

Ok. Am I less than five years younger than you?

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

I believe so.

Posted by B34N (Member # 9597) on :

I'd take the girl's cell phone until she gave me a bar of chocolate. [Big Grin]

So I probably more likely to BUY a bar of chocolate from the other girl. [Smile]

I'll be 21 in January.

Posted by airmanfour (Member # 6111) on :

I like being 21. I also like thin-mints. I really couldn't say which I like more.

Posted by breyerchic04 (Member # 6423) on :

How about thin mints with alcohol? That seems very 21.

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

Then you were born about two months before I turned 5.

Posted by GaalDornick (Member # 8880) on :

Does this thread qualify as one of the most derailed threads ever? Within 30 posts we talked about crack, did the "Do you want to buy a duck?" game thing, and now people are comparing ages. [Big Grin]

Oh, ew. Recipe for disaster.

I can't eat thin mints anymore, anyway. [Frown] I like the samoas, though. And those shortbread ones.

Dammit, now I want cookies.

But see I can tell the idea has gone through your head too, and you're speaking with experience.

Oh and Gaal, go read the bra thread, it's worse.

I haven't been able to consume mint chocolate ANYTHING for three years. The last thing I ate before I was taken to the ER for possibly ulcer-related vomiting was...a York peppermint patty.

I think alcohol would be much better with salty food. Tortilla chips, Ritz mix, and Goldfish crackers.

Let me ask this: are either of these degenerates willing to put any real effort into selling their candy? If one of them offered to wash my car or sweep up the sidewalk, I'd be a lot more interested in buying some candy.

There's no difference between the candy itself, so I need some value-add if I'm going to decide between the two. Otherwise, I'll just go online and get a free sample of Belgium chocolate with my purchase or some other tasty treat.

The customer is king. Any salesperson who doesn't remember that doesn't get my money... Unless she's selling Thin Mints.

Posted by Jeesh (Member # 9163) on :

I should tell them to switch to Thin Mints...

Yes, I am person B (shoot me if I ever decide to look like my friend. Nothing really wrong with it, just, not the clothes I'd wear... ever)

I only go door to door on my street, three or rour houses to the right and left, and ditto across the street. Our families are pretty close, so I'm safe.

MC- Would actually buy the chocolate?
