Okay, I'm sure most of you don't care, but in the Wii version of Legeng of Zelda Twilight Princess, they are making Link, who is the only left-handed character ever, into a righty. They haven't said much about it, so I have been emailing them to tell them to include a left-handed option. But there is only one of me.

That's where you come in. I need you all to email nintendo and tell them that they should have a lefty option. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Link was left-handed?

He always was.

I didn't know that.

It took how many versions of the game to stop their subliminal liberal propaganda, and you want me to encourage them to undo that?

What!?! When how did you know Link was left handed? He uses his right hand for his sword doesn't he?

Posted by Launchywiggin (Member # 9116) on :

Nope, definitely a lefty.

Thank goodness they're finally making a game where he gets to be the GOOD guy!

Every time I see Link now, I think of that one guy from Drawn Together.

Couldn't right handers then, just played it when he was normal?

I'm just trying to figure out why this is so dang important as to email Nintendo and ask them to reprogram a game. I'm sure I will live just fine if Link is Right handed instead of Left.

Posted by Elmer's Glue (Member # 9313) on :

It's not about them reprograming a game. It's about them rereprograming a game.

They went through all the trouble to screw me over, that is why I am upset about it. And all problems can be solved if they simply have left or right as an option.

Posted by GaalDornick (Member # 8880) on :

How come it bothers you? Is it for nostalgia and being a purist, or are you a lefty and appreciate a lefty character? Just curious.

Posted by SoaPiNuReYe (Member # 9144) on :

its racism in video games. duh

I'm a lefty, and Legend of Zelda games are very good. And my favorite thing about them was that Link is a lefty. He is the only one. And they were going to have the game come out like a year ago. Then they postponed it, and I find out that one of the things they were doing to it was making it against me?
It pissed me off. But I can just hope that it isn't too late for them to listen to me.

Well, keep sending them emails.

You know, the Gamecube version will still have a left-handed Link.

It will also feature the game in its original orientation. The way they've switched Link's dominant isn't by changing his character model (which would require Nintendo to probably delay the game again as they go through and fix the cutscenes, etc.) but by flipping the entire game. Basically, the Wii version of the game is a mirror image of the game as it was originally devleoped.

The Gamecube version will not be flipped.

Elmer's Glue - I got my response from Nintendo today...

Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo,

With the highly anticipated launch of Wii fast approaching, we have
been overwhelmed with inquiries and interest in this exciting new product
(and most likely will continue to be until it launches). While I'm
unable to address your question about Link directly, I wanted to let you
know that everything we've officially stated about the system is located
on our Wii-dedicated website (http://wii.nintendo.com). Please bear in
mind that many of the details of the system operation and features have
yet to be completely finalized and therefore may not be made available
until shortly before the system launches. Also, it's important to note
that some features will evolve over time once the system has launched.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.

Yeah, I know Ginol. If they don't do what I want, I guess I will have to get the GC version. I wanted to use the Wii controls, and use the 16x9 screen though.

I never noticed he was left-handed. And I've played and beat Ocarina of Time more times than I can count. Strange! I'll have to pay attention next time.

Posted by Elmer's Glue (Member # 9313) on :

Okay, apparently I also will have to wait a month because the GC version comes out Dec. 11th. Assuming they refuse to listen to me.

You could always buy a mirror.

Or you could pretend like he's left handed, but is choosing to use his right hand because using his left would make things easy for him as to bore him silly.

Yeah, too bad that would make controlling it impossible.
I had a friend who bought a thing off the internet to turn you TV into a projector. so he gets it in the mail, its a page maginifier, and instructions on how to make it with black cardboard. And he sets it all up, and turns on his video game, and the words were backwards. But, oh well, it's not like he will have to read that often for it. Then the game starts and the left and right were oposite. I never even got to see it work because he threw it away before I saw him.

What really sucks is that you had to turn your TV upside-down to do it. Apparently he had some speakers on the floor, because the magnet in it turned the corners of his TV purple.

Do you know why Link's smiling?

Because he knows something you don't know.

I certainly hope not, since they've confirmed that all they're doing is flipping the game horizontally. [Smile]

God, this reminds me of the early Counterstrike days, the early Betas, where ALL the weapons were left-handed (because the original creator was left-handed). I had people coming to ME to fix it, and I didn't even have anything to do with its development!

So, in order to fix it, they created the option for right-handed weapons, but did so originally by simply mirroring the weapon. Then came even MORE complaints because the gun on the right was inverted; the bullets were ejecting the wrong way, the safety's on the wrong side, the hammer's inverted, etc...
