If a friend had just bought a ship, a parrot, and an eye patch, and asked if you'd like them to burn you a copy, what would you say?

"Does everyone already know the song and dance, or should we practice first?"

(I don't know why, but more often I picture pirates singing and dancing than sword fighting or doing more pirate-like things)

That'd all be cool, but if he wanted a copy of my pirate earrings, I'm afraid I'd have to charge him a buck an ear.

Am I being dense or is there no difference between this thread title and the other one?

Isn't that the point of a dobie?

(Or am I being dense...?)

"...we need a gun... 'cause all of you is dense..."

My answer would be something along the lines of:
"How are you to burn a wooden ship and have it still be intact, with a duplicate to boot?
Why would you be so cruel as to burn a parrot when you know you can just buy them dead at the pet store?" [Big Grin]

I think the eyepatch is the only item I'd really like to have, together with my lumberjack shirt, torn jeans, leather jacket and unshaven face I might be safe when next I visit Madripoor. [Wink]

Yeah, but I can't guarantee how safe you'd be in Hanover. Yar! [Wink]

I always thought it was a thread title that was almost the same, but with minor differences [Dont Know] . It doesn't really matter. And in answer to the question ....

I would say "Yes".

"YARRR, Hoist the Jolly Roger and keelhaul the scurvy dogs! YARRRRRR!"

Pirate wedding! Yarr! (contains music, so workers beware of lurking bosses)

The first dobies - before there was a name for them - were exactly the same title (or max one letter off in the middle of a word...), so that you clicked on it and were totally disoriented when it wasn't the thread you expected. As time went on the stretches got bigger and bigger and it's now typically much more obvious that a thread is a dobie at first glance. At least, that's the way I remember it. [Smile]
