The sequel is called 'Peter Pan In Scarlet.'

:avoids making tasteless jokes about the obvious marketing toward Republican readership:

:dangit:

quote:
In the new book, Wendy is now a wife and mother.

"They've grown up.... the first thing they have to do is to become children again so that they can go back to Neverland," McCaughrean said.

"And when they get there, they find Neverland seriously changed. It's colder, and more dangerous and more frightening than it was before," she told BBC radio.

"Peter Pan is the same, anarchic little demon as he always was. Tinkerbell is not there at the beginning of the book but there's a new fairy, called Fireflyer, who is all bent on meeting her," she said.

Captain Hook's spirit is stalking Neverland and newcomers include mysterious circus master "The Great Ravello," and a male fairy Fireflyer.

"This is the biggest dilemma that faced me because he disappeared into a crocodile and I don't do ghosts. But his ship is still floating on the lagoon and his spirit of evil is still lurking," she said.

Fireflyer? Bleh.

So Hook is not canon?

I did enjoy the Peter Pan prequels with Dave Barry.

Oh, come on... Fireflyer is no worse than "Tinkerbell" would be if it was the first time you'd heard it. [Smile]

Yes. Yes it is.

Much worse. I think the name 'Fireflyer' is a bad omen.

No, 'Fireflyer' is the same kinda "ain't I so cutting edge to think of this" dorkdumbosity that produced the spiked Supergirl and the Loonatics Unleashed.
Sorry, early'80s "futuristic glitter-goth-punk" stylings ceased being cutting edge well before the mid'80s. And the folks who cheese out beloved properties with such nonsense are merely proving that they are old and senile, no matter what their physical age.

I love Hook. I remember when it came out, I was thinking of going to see it with my ex. My brother heard, and said, "Don't see it. It's terrible."

We went to see it, and as the credits were rolling, we looked at each other with wide eyes and simultaneously said, "Poor [brother's name]". Because he was clearly too grown up to enjoy it. Despite being 2.5 years younger than me.

There are very few movies my limited attention span will allow me to enjoy over and over again. Hook is one of them.

I liked Hook when it came out. But when I've watched it recently, I've found it lacking. I can't say why-- Robin Williams' Pan is too sweet, I think.

The recent live action 'Peter Pan' is the best Peter Pan movie of them all.

I found it too rushed.

Yes, but aren't all movies adapted from books? I do like it best.

I found Shawshank almost perfectly paced with the book. Though I think that is a rare exception.

I loved Hook. I still watch it from time to time when I'm feeling the need of a little pick me up.

Despise Hook. All of Spielberg's worst tendencies and few of his best on display.

Love, love, love the 2003 film version of Peter Pan, though.
