okay so Ive had an ipod for about a year now.

If I plug it into my computer it works perfectly fine as a flash drive, and can play the music on it as well.

But when I try to listen to it as an Ipod with just my headphones it doesnt even trn on.

Possible reasons? I may..be just a little... accidentily.... put it... into... the wahsing machine... just maybe...

But it worked just fine for a few days afterwards though once it dried.

I could be thinking too simple, but it sounds like a battery problem.

My niece was having the same problem, and it turned out that proper battery management was the solution. The backlight on the ipods eat up a lot of juice. Change the backlight setting from always on to a few seconds, ten should be fine. Turn on off any equalizer settings unless you really need them. Use the hold button, when not in use. People often put their ipods in thier pockets with out he hold on and the player gets turned on. And of course, make sure it is fully charged. If this doesn't help, you may have a lemon.

Also try to update the software using the ipod updater. And do you know how to reset when you have a lock-up: hold the play and menu button simultaneously. That may help if your switching from using the player drive to a a music player.

I had a similar issue with my 15GB - also a battery problem. Frankly I'm surprised it still works after a trip through the washing machine!
