There hasn't been much buzz about this film yet, but I've been interested in it since it was announced. Walden Media's attempt to make a film out of an original property, as opposed to a literary adaptation.

The film is written and directed by Zack Helm who did Stranger than Fiction...so that -really- gets my attention. [Cool]

It's set to be released during the 2007 holiday season. [Smile]

It won't be out for some time yet. I will bet that the VFX will be wonderful.

Will they now?

I hope they follow the examples of recent films like Zathura and Nanny McPhee by having a mixture of digital and "old fashioned" visual effects.

Absolutely!

Puffy, what do you mean by "old fashioned" VFX? (Curious as to what VFX aren't digital)

Visual effects not done on the computer. Puppetry, animatronics, smoke and mirrors...that sort of thing. [Smile]

From what I understand, if you actually blow something up, make models, set things on fire, crash them, etc and film it, it is special effects. VFX is what they do to make the special effects (and lots of other things) look the way they are supposed to look.

"Stranger than Fiction" is pretty great.
