So, I got a new hard drive for Christmas, and I'm trying to figure out how to format it. I use both windows xp and linux fairly frequently, so I was wondering what the best solution would be to get the best compatibility for both operating systems. From what I've seen, formatting it to ext3 and using EXT2 IFS for windows access seems to be my best bet, but I figured I would ask around a bit first since there are almost certainly people here who know more about this than me.

I hate to bump my own posts, so if no one has any advice this time I will go ahead and let it die. I Just wanted to give it one more chance to see if anyone had advice here.

IIRC, I used 3 partitions. One was NTFS for Windows, one was FAT(maybe32) for transfer between linux and windows, and one for just straight ext3 LINUX goodness.

That's all I've got. [Wink]
