So we were on our way to Sears today and saw a license plate that said, "JAFFA [heart]." It totally made our day. If they had not been two lanes and several car lengths away from us (and it wasn't so cold) we would totally have pulled up next to them, rolled down the window, and yelled, "Kree!" (the "yoo-hoo" meaning, not the "listen to what I'm saying, you!" meaning) and then nodded solemnly-- and given them a big thumbs-up. (But they were, so we didn't.)

Have you seen any awesome or especially eye-catching custom plates lately?

There's a black Jeep here with the liscence BAA BAA.

Mr. Funny and I saw a license plate that said "teh win". Of course, if you really had yelled kree at those people, you just know Murphy's law would dictate that the Jaffa they love is this one and they'd think you were crazy. That's okay, though. It's good to have a little too much Stargate on the brain.

For example...

In elementary school, I had a substitute who's plate was EWOK.

Doesn't get much better than this.

Maybe. But considering that they also had a SciFi Channel bumper sticker, and a Darth Vader bobblehead toy on the dashboard, I doubt it. [Big Grin]

Plus they both just had that "awesomely geeky" look, y'know? [Big Grin]

Well, that does raise the probability that they meant those lovable former slaves of the Goa'uld. Or at least, they'd know what Kree! means and be amused.

Geeky is awesome. On our way to the Honolulu airport, my family spotted a house with a stone circle used as sort of an arch in front of the door. Naturally, we had to stop and take a picture of the "stargate."

If I were to get vanity plates, I'd have them say either "I DUNNO" or "I FORGET". If anyone wanted to report my driving to the police, that would be their answer when asked to report if they'd gotten my license plate number.

This is hysterical.

My Mom had a little green car that she always said was only good for short hops. Her license plate said "KATYDYD." No one ever really seemed to get it.

There was a car near my parent's house thad had the license plate

LOIMVE

which I always thought was pretty cool.

I saw one that said IMBORED

My brother Larry has LAR CAR 1. And my sister Brenda has OPTMST 1 (I thought about getting PSSMST 1 when I moved to Chicago). My Dad has NRA, which probably protects him from getting ticketed, though it's just his initials.

I have SVARA 1, and my partner had GVALT 1 before she totalled her car. The two plates were references to the different ways we became Orthodox.

Let us not forget the infamous Assman.

3MTAE was one in the news a while back. In the mirror it reads, EATME (the 3 is reversed). The cops made her get new plates.

Perfect plate for the wrecked car.

Except that she meant it in a Carlebachi way.

I used to commute with two vehicles that had the plates H8BNL8 and ALWSL8. My guess is that they had the same owner.

There's a lot of vanity plates on Long Island, or at least more than I was used to seeing in Illinois.

One that especially made me laugh was CRAZYHAG.

My aunt recently bought a scion, and on the back she put a sign that says "When I grow up, I want to be a Hummer!"

Not a liscence plate, but still funny.

I used to see an orange Thing (remember those?) around town with the license plate JULIUS.

My very favorite is on a green new-style VW bug that I see around town here. The license place reads SOYLENT, and the top of the license plate frame reads, "Soylent Green". The bottom of the frame reads, "It's what's for Dinner".

I just love that. [Big Grin]

Dead_Horse, there's a BAABAA black Jeep in Providence too! I've seen it a couple of times.

My dad's first car had the license plate NAZGUL. One day he found himself behind a car with license plate HOBBIT. He followed this car for over an hour, hoping to get the driver's attention, but he eventually lost track of it.

Oh, and I've seen a Scion xB with the license plate X-BOX.

My brother worked at a shop where they installed moon-roofs. One day a new Cadilac pulled into the shop to be worked on. Its license plate read "POE-TED". My brother spent a good part of the day trying to figure out what that meant. Was Poeted a word? Was this a Edgar Allen Poe reference?

Several hours later another worker walked by, took one glance and laughed. "Po Ted? If Ted's so po, what's he doin with a Cadilac?"

My dads Jeep says WAR LFP

if youve ever been a melee job in FFXI you know exactly what that means

I don't even know what that sentence means.

Ask Blayne. Sounds like the kind of thing he could explain.

Oh, and a friend has a Mini Cooper with the liscence "PIPSQK"

Used to see a silver DeLorean in the parking garage a few jobs ago. Plate? "NO ROADS".

Posted by Dan_raven (Member # 3383) on :

I used to have liscence plate "SCN-911". It was not a specialty plate, just random.

My brother would laugh and say, "Need to know where Dan is, Scan 911"
