I'm at college at the moment, but I need something to take my mind off of my classes every once in a while--usually once every day or two. Usually I would use my PC; however, over here at SVU there's a slight problem:
I've only got a MacBook. I got the MacBook because it's student friendly and professionally designed, and I've always wanted a Mac of my own. I saw my sister's iBook G4 a couple years ago for the first time, and I immediately knew that I had to get my hands on one for college.
Unfortunately, Macs and games have never been very stable partners in the computer industry. Most game developers, it seems, completely ignore Macs. Thus I am limited to Starcraft and Warcraft III. Blizzard seems to be the only developer of good quality that acknowledges Apple as a feasible investment. I don't do M-rated games, so Diablo's never been up my alley.
Are there any other quality games out there for my Mac that I could use? Suggestions?
Other than World of Warcraft. I do need to get a good GPA, after all.

If you can pick up a copy of Windows (your university might have a deal to get licenses cheap), just install Boot Camp (available from Apple), dual boot windows, and run all the games you want .
edit: I should note that your vid card is minimally capable by modern standards.
Also, you might try out Unreal Tournament, I know there's a version of that running on OS X, and its a fun FPS.

Age of Empires III, Black and White, Civilization IV, Europa Universalis II, the Battlefield games, Call of Duty 2, Medal of Honour, Return to Castle Wolfenstein (or the sequel, cancelled in development and made available for free: Enemy Territory) are all available on mac.

Sorry, eros, but I've tried that already. I picked up the 14-day trial CD from the local Walmart. Obvious symptoms of Warcraft-itis followed, such as loss of sleep, loss of productivity, and loss of a fulfilling life in general.
Needless to say, I was relieved when it was over. Did I say I got it at the beginning of the school year? Not a wise decision on my part.
Euripedes and twinky: both very good suggestions. I just wished game developers paid more attention to Macs; they have audiences over here, too. Goodness knows most of the standard PC games available for Macs have been developed for the OS X system by small, 3rd-party companies. I'd rather have it from the publishers themselves, not someone I've never heard of.
Ah well. I'll get over it.

Yeah, escape velocity is great. If you buy nova, you can download mods that re-create the first two escape velocity games, too, so its three great (and very different, despite some obvious similiarities) games for the price of one . . . not to mention all the player-created content you can download for free, including more full-game mods.
