Maybe they were trying to ward off the !!EVIL!! present in that book. You know. As if two flimsy clovers is enough to ward off the kind of !!EVIL!! present in that book. That kind of !!EVIL!! needs at least three highly trained !!EVIL!!-fighting. leprechauns.
On a side note, I think this smiley is not evil enough. We need an :!!EVIL!!: smiley.
