Anyone here have anything to say about them? My brother gave me a couple albums of their music today. I can't figure out if I like them. They're sort of like a cross between TMBG and Indigo Girls. And The Roches. They blend beautifully, but listening to them makes me feel stoned.

Anyone else even heard of them?

I like them, but in small doses. Any girl that plays the banjo is tops in my book, and they had a cute live show.

Walk or Ride is one of my favorites. But I can definitely only take them song by song, definitely not an album at a time.

TMBG, Indigo Girls, and The Roches? *resolves to check them out*

Ack! Now all I can hear is:

We're the Ditty Bops
We're the Ditty Bops
We're the Ditty Bops, oh yeah!

<Claws out brains through ears.>

I am a bit smitten with Amanda (the taller one) since a political blogger linked me to them on a slow weekend. They harmonize brilliantly.

This is a cute video: Wishful Thinking

Like porce said, their live shows were (are?) cool. One of them had parents with a circus/vaudeville background, and they had themed shows with elaborate costumes, sets and plots.

Tova loves that show. And I had the same thought when my brother mentioned them. It took me a second to realize he wasn't saying "Doodlebops".

That was both hot and disturbing. Thanks.

They've come at least twice to Madison (once on a nationwide bicycle tour), and I've actually had the chance to talk to 'em. They're charming, and certain of their songs are absolutely fantastic -- but others, as you've observed, are probably better if you're high on something. [Smile] I've always been a fan of burlesque, and Vaudeville lesbians are consequently right up my alley. *laugh*

*heart-brokenly careens to fainting couch*

I recommend the Indigo Girls' self titled album and Nurds by The Roches. And everything by They Might Be Giants.

No, I mean I like The Roches and TMBG a lot, and am pretty cool with most stuff by the Indigo Girls, so I would check out the Ditty Bops. But carefully because of the haze-inducing effects. [Wink]
