Do you have a library card? Here in Maryland, the local libraries use Overdrive - they have a lot of EBooks and audiobooks.

Oh man, I wish I had a library card in Maryland to get my hand on some of that collection. I have one in the SF Peninsula library system... I wonder if they have a similar service?

Probably. Both Utah and Hawaii (the places where I have cards) do.
Project Gutenberg has free audio books and links to their sources. These are all stuff in the public domain, and mostly read by volunteers. But free!

Yeah, librivox has public domain and free audiobooks as well, but the quality of reading and recording is spotty. Plus, I want access to modern works more than public domain.
I believe the Gutenberg and librivox recordings are shared- and some of the "audiobooks" on Gutenberg are computer synthesized speech... yuck.

WooHoo i just checked my library after seeing this thread and turns out they have a good number books on file.
Any recommendations from Publication: Prince Frederick, MD
It seems my library has all its audio from this publisher, anyone know anything they might have thats any good?

I'm pretty sure I just saw an audible.com add on Facebook to hear Obama read Obama, or some other devilishly creative title, for free. Not that it would be, of course.

You can get free audio recordings of any book you like.
