I hate, loathe and detest Benjamin Britten so much. I've never heard (or been forced to sing - the price you pay for being a choir geek) a piece by him that I liked.

Also, Britten was, as his name suggests, British- so he wasn't exactly an American, let alone a hero.

I wasn't referring to Britten, I was referring to Sir Simon Rattle's superficial resemblance to a certain '80s TV character.

Am I the only one here old enough to remember that?
