I'm currently up to my ears in Modernist poetry and the medieval/Renaissance environment a lot of it drew on, and I'm interested to see what "outsiders" have thought. I mean, I'm sympathetic to the genre and at least moderately familiar with the literary milieu, and even I find them taxing my patience quite a bit.
Has anyone here actually read them? All of them, or excerpts? What were your reactions?

Yes, well, I suppose this means no one has read one of the most important long poems of the 20th century?

I confess that Modernism (and especially the Imagist subset) is my least favorite literary school, so I can't help you here. Just doesn't do anything for me.

Oh, I don't care if you liked it or hated it. I'm just curious about reactions to it.
If it helps, The Cantos are definitely not Imagist. Posted by Shmuel (Member # 7586) on :

Okay, that's a plus.
But, no, I've never read The Cantos. The closest I've come to them was learning about a bunch of variations between editions as part of a critical editing course. Pretty much all of which I've since forgotten.
