I am ridiculously excited about this. It's by a Turkish sculptor called Cetin Ates, and it was delivered today. It is called "Busy Mind", and it shows a man with a spiral growing out of his head, and a ladder, and a bicycle, and a swing, and a running person.
There is a picture of it here, the second one on the page. I liked the first one on the page a lot too - it's sort of unsettling, I think, but very cool and interesting.
I really love the other sculptures this artist has done. My two favorites (apart from the one I bought, of course) are Before the Sun Moves Away and Don Quijote. They are all gorgeous though.
My first piece of original art! That I can keep forever and lavish affection upon! (Ugh, what an awful sentence. But the sentiment stands.)

That's super neat. I really liked "Touch" on the first page you linked. I like Don Quijote a lot too. (Though I think that's not spelled right...)

It was a big expense for me, but it wasn't too expensive considering that it's a sculpture taller than I am. I just had a birthday, and my parents gave me some money to get another, smaller sculpture for my desk at work. I'm excited!

Wow, this is so cool! I like the sculpture a lot. I love real art. I have a few pieces myself, and they contribute so much life and beauty to my home. At least they make me feel that way, which is what counts, I guess. How is it that objects can take on such power? It's a miracle and a mystery, I think.
I watched Lonny Holley one time twist an empty Pepsi bottle and a few other things into this amazing beautiful creation. He did it in just a few minutes, while I was watching, and I didn't see any step where he ritually invested it with power <laughs>. It just was strikingly wonderful when he was done, and I wanted it badly.
I think artists are akin to prophets in that way. I wish I knew how to do that.
Enjoy your piece, and take good care of it. It's the very first piece in your collection.
