This couldn't be more awesome even if there was something on fire! Having the soldiers wave at the camera as it pans across the studio-palace.

Hes 10 hours of few hours of drill training is funny.

GIRL PUSH UPS!

I just ruined my pants, Barack Obama is on the Colbert Report! And they're gonna shave Colbert's head! And he made a joke about his ears! Its! Gah! Argh! Urk! Gah! *twitch* AWESOME!

I'm gonna need another pair of pants.

So ya, y'know the whole comment how it couldn't get more awesome? I was totally and irredemiably WRONG. !!!!!

Seriously, the sequence with Tom Hanks was absolutely hysterical.

Really? It didn't do a whole lot for me. Honestly, while there have been funny parts here and there, I've mostly been unimpressed with the Iraq episodes. His show usually aligns very well with my sense of humor, and these episodes haven't.

You heard it here first folks, Noemon hates the troops.

These episodes aligned more with entertaining the troops and showing his respect for them, as such his satirical humor which is usually aimed at the hypocracy and idiocy of the far right probably would not have worked as well here, as such it played more like a stand up routine but to my mind was still hilarious and he got some really good bits in.

I thought, as a whole, it wasn't as funny as it usually is, but I think that's because he's catering to a very specific audience, and we're just sort of peering in. Though I thought the bit on gays in the military was interesting. Talk about speaking truth to power.

I still thought the Tom Hanks thing was really funny. He's been doing some really wacky stuff lately, and it's mostly been pretty funny. I didn't think these episodes were especially funny, but I bet for the troops they were pretty entertaining.

I think part of the problem was touched upon when he said that bit about him doing the pandering here. For me, these episodes kinda blur the line between fake pandering and actual pandering and moves him towards the latter which cuts down on the satirical humour that he's really good at.

That said, I think he's doing a pretty good job under the circumstances and he is getting a bit in like the gay thing that was pointed out. It would also be kind of jerk-like to really go at the troops which are really just people caught between a rock and a hard place, unlike say when he cut apart George Bush.

Meh, its interesting to watch but not particularly funny in an absolute sense.

I think it was mostly (not entirely) different from the regular Colbert Report, so it's tough to compare them. I did think on the first episode that he was just going to be wearing a bald skullcap after the break -- I was actually rather touched that he let the guy buzz his hair.

I felt it was awesome that Obama ordered it to happen [Smile]
